People around here sure seem to like NXT - I'm probably going to try that out after I run out of Zaino - it's just too expensive. Anyway, if I'm starting from scratch (with a clayed car), do I need to do anything else other than wax with the NXT? I.e. is there any other step in the process (polishing or anything) or is the NXT all you need? I hope it is.

One wax I really like is S100 (same as P21S). It's easy to apply and really has a deep, wet shine. It's a carnuba wax so it does not last that long (but I hear longer than the NXT). You can get S100 from your local Harley dealer for ~$15 a can. Sweet stuff.....

I used to use Meguiars NXT, but i found a better one.
I use "Klasse" Our dealer carries it. It is a wax and
filler in one. It fills all the little pores in the paint or
glass and gives a very smooth finish. One can tell the
difference just by feeling the paint.

i personally start off with three layers of the meguiars NXT wax then top it off with a layer of Carnu-b carnuba wax. the miguires gives a great gloss and shine and the carnu-b does a great job of repelling water and bugs.
Trust me this is GREAT combo.

you guys should check out some of the lesser know boutique brands out there. poorboy's world, four star, pinnacle, all put out awesome products. And don't forget, most results come from the paint's prep. in other words claying, and then polishing.

If you live somewhere rainy, it works great. It's not very durable though, so you will be reapplying it. Also, they have a rain-x windshield wiper spray that I was going to get, but I don't want the overspray to get on my paint, so I guess I will be applying it by hand.

You can't beat Meguiar products. The paste wax products will last longer than the spray on or liquid types.

if you dont like to wax often use a sealant like four star upp. available off the net. this is good stuff! so slick and wet looking. if you like to wax every few weeks or so use s100 carnuba paste wax. you can get it at any Harley dealer for $15 it is essentially the same formulas as the p21s which goes for $32. it is so easy to apply and wipe off. it has that nice deep wet look! you will like it! it will not stain trim. awesome stuff!

I love Rain-X, It seems I need to reapply it every couple weeks.

MF towels can be purchased wherever you get your wax, they're pretty common.

i got my microfiber towels from Wal-mart. I use Mother Clay bar and NXT Generation™ Tech Wax Paste. The car look better than new. The Clay bar is amazing, It took bugs and tar stains out easily. I would use it everytime before i wax the car. I saw it autobarn.net for $13

The NXT paste was easy to apply and buff off. Claying and waxing took about 30 minutes each.

Do most u guys use NXT spray?

I got it from the dealer in bremerton Washington, but here is a link to
a retailer with a description.

http://superiorcarcare.net/klasse.html

A number of guys use it in the northwest because it lasts with
our long rainy season. A little goes a long way so try the small
bottle.

Tried Zymol this weekend...easy to apply/remove, is all natural.

I wanted to start off with a less aggressive product to see how the paint "likes it".

It made the blue more obvious in the sunlight.

i have so much to learn...thanks everyone. i've been reading tons of old posts to catch on a bit.

i brought my new xb home yesterday and i have a few really basic questions on washing and waxing it. (i've never bothered to take care of my previous cars....)

i live in an apartment so i don't have an outdoor hose. can you wash properly with just 2 buckets (1 with clean water). any pointers? another option would be going to one of the do it yourself car washes they have and only using their hose to spray water. i've heard to never use that brush attachment since they are dirty and scratch your paint. not sure if i should use the "wash" cycle and spray the car or not or only the water. the spray is at very high pressure so maybe i'd be better with my 2 bucket idea? (pointers welcome)

after the washing - i'm unsure on waxing. i read that people really like the NXT tech wax (mequiars). would i want to wax my new car right away or wait a few weeks? if i do it this weekend - would i just wash and dry then wax or are there other steps in between.

finally when people mention the microfiber cloths - do you use them to dry after washing or only for wax removal? do you ever wash the clots in the washing machine? thanks for your patience and help.
