grinding reverse shift.
when i first start my car, it is sometimes a little difficult shifting into reverse. it's not a smooth shift and i hear a sound that is like gears grinding. is this normal as my car is not warmed up? i kno it is not because my clutch is no pushed down far enough. i floor that stupid thing. anyone have any ideas?
Ok there are syncros in reverse. The only difference is that there is an idler gear that u also move with the syncro when u shift . The reverse gear and idler is a Spur gear (llllll) instead of a helical gear like ur speed gears (/////) which is a little more difficult to shift to and 70% more noisy. Try holding the reverse gear in place when you let go of the clutch slowly, you should feel it slide in smoothly.

i've found this to be a fix for my "problem." push clutch in, open the throttle a little, and shift into reverse gear while rpm is above idle.
thanks, guys. i wouldn't have found this solution without the tips from your replies.
