You know where the wiper blades are on our scion xb, right below that is the black cover.. What is this piece called?

How do I remove it, I'm trying to install my front struts and remember seeing someone saying how to remove it but i dont even know what to search for.

 

wiper cowl is what its called im pretty sure ..what you do is pop the two plastic covers off the ends of your wipers ...towards the wiper cowl ...take the two 14 mm nuts off ...pop the blade assembly off ... then go around the plastic cowl and take out all the little screwed in punches there is probably about 10 of them holding it down ..it should come off with ease ...might take a little effort if its a virgin to coming off
