Default help! dont know whats going on with my xB

i got rear-ended in a hit & run last month, and i finally got my car back yesterday...however, i think something might be wrong with my car...

today, i noticed sometimes when i'm at a stop, i hear a VERY loud rattle from the rear of my car (i can hear the rattle over the stock radio at 35 volume level), i let the windows go down and the rattle is so loud other cars can hear it, it cant be the license plate cuz theres no way it would rattle that hard/loud...i really dont know what else to say because the sound goes away when i let off the brake and start moving, set the e-brake, or put the car in park (auto trans)

on top of that...i continued driving (with my e-brake off of course)...and all of a sudden the VSC, ABS, BRAKE (e-brake), and TRAC OFF lights all turn on for no apparent reason. keep in mind my e-brake was already off and i never turned trac off, i always leave it on...

so, whats going on with my xB? i have no idea, i'd really appreciate it if people could help or offer some insight, im going to the dealer tomorrow morning for scheduled maintenance (oil change)

thanks

Take it back to the place that "fixed" it.

Dude I'm so sorry to hear that after you got things "fixed" after the accident.

Take it back and have them diagnose your vehicle again. I hope things turn out for you soon.

Grab the exhaust (when its cool ) and make sure it is centered in its mount. The mount is simply a rubber bushing slid over a metal hook on most cars. My tC was rear ended and after they fixed it I heard the same thing. Looking at it, the muffler was off-centered with the cutout in the bumper, so when i started it, or at idle, it rattled against the body. I simply gave it a tug and slid it back on its mount properly to fix it. I would try that first to see if that is all it is. Hope it helped!

uh,oooo Sounds like the dreaded axle back gasket is bad. If you have a aftermarket exhaust on, than thats the problem. This little guy:

If you are stock than the heat shield is probably hitting the frame of the car or the muffler. Just bend it back, but look under the car first to see if thats the problem. Hope this helps. :D
