HELP! Eclipse 6600 Navagation in tC - got 'Check Engine'
Hi everyone, I have a few questions about installing the Touchscreen Eclipse AVN 6600 Navigation/DVD system. "Awesome unit!"
This system wants me to tap onto the break switch wire, reverse switch wire and the speed pulse wire.
I know the break switch tap is so that you cant watch the DVD player unless the e-break is on (I tapped onto the cigarette lighter wire in order to bypass this.) The Reverse switch is used for an optional rear backup camera - which I did not buy - so I didnt tap on to anything. Last, the speed pulse sensor is used by the navigation unit to calculate your ETA to a destination based on your speed and distance - I could not locate this wire so I left it un-tapped also.
All the stock stereo connection plug directly into the unit and fits directly in the play of the old stock radio.
My first question now is - Why is a solid check engine light on now? Has anyone had a similar problem?
Ive tried disconnecting first the battery, then the EFI fuse & last the EMU Fuse - each left disconnected for 5 minutes. Still the light is on.
I even disconnected the wire tap onto the cigarette lighter wire and pull the EFI fuse for joys to see if that was it.. but the light was still on.
Also, second question, can anyone tell me where the speed pulse wire is located on the ECU?
I took a pic of the unit from behind my glovebox:

If all else fails.. Ill have to take the time to get to the dealer and find out. :/
P.S. If anyone needs help or have questions about installing this navigation system.. PM me - I can help.

My guess is a bad ground.
Go back and check your work - make sure you didn't knock anything loose.
You probably don't want to hear this, but get the codes pulled and you'll find the underlaying problem.
It's probably 1 in a million, but by coincidence maybe something unrelated happened.
Who knows.
