i know a very little about cars, and i only change oil one time on my 90 honda, as far as i know i only need to drain the oil and replace the oil filter when you perform oil change, so im wondering is draining oil and replace oil filter is all i need to do oil change on my XA? and i dont know where is the oil filter and drain bolt locate at on my XA? can someone wiht experience give me some detail and advice? thanks

First change the filter and make sure the old O-ring didn't stick to the mounting surface. Lightly oil the new filter seal with fresh oil. Screw on new filter. Tighten 3/4 turn past first contact. Next move drain pan under drain plug and remove it. Wipe it down and have it ready to put back in after the old oil drains out. Replace the plug *do not over tighten* snug works good. Now add 4 quarts of new oil into the fill plug up on top using a funnel. Now would be a great time to change over to Mobil 1 synthetic. It allows you to safely go 5 K between oil changes. Also remember to stay away from Fram filters. They are total crap. Best to stick with the Toyota filters. They can be had in 10 packs from several sponsoring dealers on here.
Next run the engine for a couple minutes then shut off and pull dipstick and wipe it clean. Then re-insert it and pull out again and check to make sure it shows full. Done.

I meant re install when I said replace. Sorry. But then again you could replace it with one that has a magnetic tip on it to trap metal shavings.

im sorry, when you said turn 3/4 of a turn, i dont know how much i need to turn to get 3/4, can it express in degree, 45, 90, 180, 360 ects? thanks

360 if full turn so 3/4 turn is 270 deg.

Put down a bunch of newspaper and have lot of paper towels handy. Draining the sump is a clean job, but removing the filter is messy.

hrmm, im in the middle of changing my xB's oil right now and i cannot get the filter to come loose. i even bought a oil filter wrench and it still wont come loose. im about to shove a screwdriver through it if i cant manage to get it off by hand. toyota REALLY screwed it on tight. any suggestions?

screwdriver method worked. poked a hole on the bottom to drain, poked a whole from one side to the other, let the oil drain again, and turned it, used the screwdriver as a handle.

They tend to overtighten them at the factory. I use oversized channel locks to get my filters off.
