Default Help Me fix my tire!! How???

Hey Scioners! I have the infamous tire shop "unrepairable" nail in the sidewall. My tire is losing about 5 psi per week. I keep filling it up with air and I can still drive it.

Since no tire shops I have been to will fix it, can I use that Fix-A-Flat or comparable product? Can I hear some good and bad opinions about these types of products? I will be getting new rims/tires in a few months so I dont want to buy a new stock tire now. Please advise...thanks!

There is a reason no one wants to fix it.

I MUST recommend you do not try to repair it, but replace it ASAP. A new tire is much less expensive than an accident....

Continuing to drive on a tire with a slow leak may allow moisture to seep around the object and into the tire. This will reduce the probability that the tire can be repaired properly because the moisture will ultimately reach the internal steel and fabric cords used to reinforce the tire and possibly cause rust and loss of strength.

If you insist on trying a repair (no matter how much I recommend aganist it), here are a few links:

nails in sidwall or any damage to the sidewall can NOT be reapired and i know that it sucks but yyou better just buy a new tire before you have a blow out, no one you take it to will ever repair it and if they do they should punched in the face and this will not pass state inspections in this condidtion either

All of the above. Why try to save 100 bucks and risk accident? Be happy, your other 3 tires are still close to new or you'd be buying a set of 4. ABS don't like different size tires!

Again, all of the above. Sidewall punctures begin to break down the structural integrity of a tire. Even if you find a hackjobber that will put a rope plug in the sidewall that stops the leak, you run the risk of the tire breaking apart, which is slightly worse than a leak.

I had the same problem... BUY A NEW TIRE!!!!!!!

and STOP DRIVING ON IT!!! You are risking an accident right now and for your own safety and the safety of everyone else on the road - GET A NEW TIRE!

It will blow...
