If it's bigger than say... a dime, you're getting up to the size where the only way to really fix it is to sand and spray it. Paintscratch.com does sell the same paints in 6 oz spray cans and especially if it's on a flat area, you could (with a TON of time) make it look really good. I've done it on other things. Lots and lots of coats with lots and lots of wet sanding in between. It's going to be hard to fill anything that big. You will be able to make it less noticable and protect the rest of the paint though.

Default Anyone out here have Paint Chipping BAD ???????

bought my XA in March of 2005 and very happy with it but before I left for my vacation i noted I had paint chips in a few places ! I called the dealer and asked if the car had a top coat...He said yes! Then I saw a post in here some one was asking if anyone had a problem with paint chipping off way to easy!

My frind noted it look as if the car only had one coat of paint, and the chips kep coming! I drove my car home to Topeka Kansas from Reno Nevada and avoided getting behind 18 wheels and if on happen to pull out in front of me I would drop back !

Well I mad it home to kansas done my visiting and return back to Reno and wow Paint chip city, I still have my ford Escort GT and it's been shot twice with a BB gun and all was done was the dimple the paint stayed on !

If someone knows more about this problem I'm willing to join in and confront Toyota about thisd mater! I have 6,700 miles on mine now and just don't like how easy the paint flyes off! Please contact me at ( BLKACE1@aol.com ) The Name Is JJ and the webmaster of http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RenoHPD/

The consensus is that the paint is just thin and cheap - some people (Smash) have paint defects that are a more serious matter. Advice to people who care about how their cars look and don't have a bunch of chips yet - a clear bra is the only way to keep the front end looking nice. I've had my tC for about oh... maybe 8 months now and I've got zero chips on the front.

UnFocused, it's cute that you are trying to fill up your post activity bar, but if you don't have anything constructive to say, shut up. Also, you misspelled "complaining."

Actually I am far from trying to fill my "post activity bar" . Unlike you, I have been a member since 2003.........

BLKACE1 has posted in three different threads the same text regaurding his chips, that he presumes are Toyota fault, Without searching I might add....

This topic has been covered in several threads, so i take BLKACE1's replies/threads on the same topic as complaining.

So, why dont you go crawl back into your cave you troll.....

You're right, it's been covered. Due to fed. enviro. regulations, a lot of new cars are using softer paint. Also a couple other reasons... but yea. we're so ****!

OK, firstly, OMG you've been a member since '03. That is just so incredible and I definitely care a lot. We got our xB in August '03...are we extra special, too?

Secondly, Scion Life is a great forum with lots of excellent info, owing mostly to the positive input of members, new and old. It's been nice to see it grow from nothing to something. That said, the search functionality on SL sucks. Always has, but hopefully won't always. Many, like me, don't often have time to wade through 4,000 irrelevant posts trying to get to the info we are looking for. So, often after using the search functionality to no avail, we posit a query. Ideally, we get a response from well-meaning fellow auto enthusiasts, not some frustrated, left-handed, b.s. anger response that only reveals issues that should likely be addressed privately.

Thirdly, what are you, the forum police? I have never seen other posts from BLKACE1 about paint issues. In fact, this is the only one I've seen...and anyways, who cares if BLKACE1 is still trying to figure out more info about his paint issue? I guess I missed the rule where you were only allowed to post once on any particular subject, especially one that may be a warranty issue.

But wait a sec, if memory serves there are lots and lots and lots of new posts about "What size wheels should I get?" "What are the best mods?" "Which CAI is best?" "Where do I order TRD springs?" Those must be making you crazy! Don't these idiots know that these questions may have already been addressed once and for all in 2003??

Look, if it is your not-so-secret dream to some day be a moderator and control how/what/when people post on this public forum, that's cool, and by all means lobby the Scion Life powers-that-be.

Until then, simply ignore posts that don't interest or involve you. It is easy to learn how, and I am confident that you can do it.

Sound good?

(In other words...shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...uuuuuuuuuuuuuut...uuuuuuuuuuuuuup.)

So how's this - If I further want to protect my paint upon just recieving the car, could I simply add a few layers of clearcoat to the top?
