none of those stuff would be strong enough. I guess my only options are to get it coated or do a machine polish

Ok.

Yes it can burn in and be difficult to remove, but its not permanent. Think your finger oils soaked "through" the metal? no way.

Just sand it off using steel wool, working finer and finer. Once the prints are gone, get the final polish with a stainless steel polish and soft rag. Then clean thoroughly with rubbing alcohol unless you want hot burning polish stink.
