Depending on how deep the scratches are I would not use sand paper first, because you could end up removing clear coat. If they are just in the paint and not to bare metal then I would just fill them in a little bit with touch up paint (after cleaning the area well). Once the paint is cured take some rubbing compound and work the area according to the package. That's about the best I can offer. If you sand the area it will always be noticable in the sun. Good luck, and perhaps you should try the rubbinhg compound first. You can buy that stuff cheap at any parts store, or wal-mart.

those look like clearcoat scratches to me. your not going to need sandpaper if they are. If you decide to use rubbing compound going going to swirl the areas around the scratches to all hell. Your going to have to use a lighter series of polishes after the rubbing compound to get the swirls out. After a few polishing steps, switch over to a wax and your good to go.

Be sure to let us know if you got those scratches buffed out. I have a few like that in my car that are just killing me. I am interested in hearing how you come out.

just go to walmart or pepboys.. (auto supplies) and get some Meguairs Scratch-X.. you might have to use it a couple of times but it DOES get rid of the scratches, but don't go overboard and use rubbing compound, or even wet sanding.. that's over kill for this amount..

Scratch-X is a paste, you apply a little to the scratch or the rag (cotton terry cloth preferred) and buff and buff til it's gone.. pretty simple really..

I would try that way before even trying to touch it up!
