Default how much to repair this damage?

Sorry for blowing out the margins. I wanted to show as much detail as possible.

This is the drivers side rear panel. Maybe from a bullet?? I don't know. Happened yesterday.

Besides getting it fixed and probably costing $1,000.00 or so, is there anyway to atleast rustproof it for now? Is there any sealant (hopefully clear) that can be put on it to prevent water from getting in?

Thanks for any help guys.

i'm tryin to pull up the price of a new panel right now...as far as rustproofing it...you could try filling it with silicone glue in the meantime.

well, you WOULD NOT want to replace that quarter panel. it would involve at least 12 hours of labor, plus the cost of a new panel, and most body shops will charge list price for all parts anyways. plus that panel simply doesn't bolt off.

If I was writing you an estimate for the bodyshop I work at, I would estimate about 5 hours of repair time, 3 hours of paint time. PLUS you have to R&I (remove and install) that back quarter window. which cost $137.50. Plus one hour of Clear coat. By the time you add hazardous waste, masking off the car, and materials, your looking at most likely $800 easy.

That's what we have insurance for. Have the piece replaced and done right by a good shop. You pay the deductable and that's all you have to worry about. Your insurance should not go up because of it either.

It looks like it's right in the bend of that panel. Make sure to look at it every which way before you tell the shop it's good.
