Default How often should I wax?

I've had my car for just about a month and I waxed it once. I want to know how often I should be waxing my car? BTW, I use Turtle Wax Platinum.

Most people on here swear by Meguiars products. Their site is down through the link on our tech section, but here is the link to Mother's site. They say every 8 wks or so:

I say whenever water doesn't bead as well. As in there are still beads, but they are large, even puddles an inch or more in diameter.

I generally don't let mine get that bad. Two months max, more like every month if possible.

And I like Meguiars Tech Wax.

i say you should wax when ever the hairs get to be about 1/8" long or so....... that way the wax can get a good grip and leave you with a smooth surface ....

sorry had to say it....

It mostly depends on how often you wash your car...please do not use automatic car washes.. If washed by hand once a week , waxing once a month should be fine..lose the turtle wax and use meguires NXT .. easy on and easy off.. your paint will thank you.

okay I will look into Meguires NXT. Does Wal-mart sell that or do I have to go elsewhere? So I will wax once a month. I tend to want to wash my car a lot.

wal-mart does sell it. It's a synthetic - looks great, but doesn't last as long as mother's caranuba. I saw a review of like ten different products once, but can't quite rem the link...

I totally agree with max - when it doesn't bead well, wax it.

I've been doing mine every two weeks or so, just becasue I got hooked on the shine. I do a clay bar every 10,000. when it's time to wax, I do the NXT, then a lyaer of caranuba, and every other wax (or before shows) a layer of Klasse polish on top of that. all buffed out with a porter cable.

Isn't using Klasse between wax layers counter productive? Klasse is a STRONG cleaner, and is probably stripping that last coat of wax you just put on.

I also prefer Optimum's Car Wax to the NXT.
