Default Idiot Lights

Just passed 12,600 miles on my '05 xB. Have been changing oil routinely, and all of a sudden my "Engine Maintenance" light comes on when I start the car. It blinks for about 5 seconds, then goes away.

Anyone else have this happen?

Is this "normal"?

Default ...Yes, Normal...

Go search 'maintenance light' in maintenance section to see threads about how to reset it yourself. It will go on after 5000 miles, Dealer should reset it after your free oil changes. Do you do your own oil changes? If so, this is the last step for an XB oil change.
Light will blink on and go out as it nears 5000, after 5000 it will stay on.

Default Which leads me to ....

Where do you have your Scion serviced at? I have been taking mine back to the dealership for oil changes and problems, with poor results. I was told I could I could take my Scion to any dealership. Is that true? Anybody have a good dealership I could take it to?

Not necessarily true. Mine comes on at the beginning, blinks for about ten seconds, and then goes away... I never saw it blink at all before 5000 and it does not stay on.
That happened in my honda where it was blinking at ignition after a certain mileage and was told it was totally normal as long as I didn't stay on.
*shrug* No idea. It's really annoying how some things just start happening that weren't there before, and then you're just told to ignore them.
