Default It's all in the detailing.

I'm getting my BSP 08 xB ready so I can take its photo to post here on the forums, but after my initial detailing I'm not sure what I should do next.

I decided to do a wash and detailing/waxing of my new xB so it's looking even better than when I picked it up from the dealership.

I washed it with Meguiar's NXT wash, used Mothers California Gold Clay Bar and Showtime Detailer spray, followed that with a quick rinse and Mother's Carnauba Cleaner Wax.

It's looking nice, but the BSP paint still doesn't have the "depth" that I'm looking for. I'm thinking about adding polish and a final layer of carnauba wax (not the cleaner wax) to give the paint more depth.

My question: Do I need to wash and clay bar the paint again to remove the cleaner wax before I add the polish and carnauba ... or can I just add the polish and the carnauba?

no wash and clay bar needed, if the finish if clean, just wax over it with sealer wax/ polish

Sweet. Imma do that this weekened if it's nice. I love the BSP when it's clean... it's gonna look hot with a deep wet look to it.

anytime after you clay bar you need to wax the car. after you finish the clay bar there is no longer any wax to protect the clear coat. since you haven't waxed it you should wash the car, use a cleaner wax, then polish and then wax. the polish adds the shine and depth to paint while the wax just protects.

It's all about the Zaino. Frankly I'm shocked nobody brought it up already.

Don't just take my word for it. Take a look at the photo and testimonials sections.

I use this on my cars and IMHO those of you with dark colored cars cannot use anything else. Check out the black vehicles posted. I have seen exactly what they show and it is even more impressive IRL. I get nothing but ohhhs and ahhhs when people see it the first time. The bad part is that they cannot resist touching it. My 13 year old says the cars feel soft when they are Zaino'ed. I think he's right.

It's not the cheapest and probably not the most expensive either but lots of people say it's the best. I bought the $84 kit to start out with and have added the Z8 which is great for touch ups between full treatments.

zaino is good, but it doesn't seem to last as long from my uses. plus, when you want to just go out and wax your car you will have to order and wait on the mail. mothers and meguairs have been very good to me and its easy to get.

I guess I don't get that one. I bought the kit I mentioned and have done 6 complete polish jobs and several partial touch ups without putting a serious dent in the supplies. I am pretty sure I will have a good idea when I need more in plenty of time to have it when I need it. They say one 8 ounce bottle of Z3 will do a Corvette 20 times.

Whatever. I am very happy with Zaino. Feel free to use what you want. Definitely no urge on my part to argue someone else's suggestion. You have to use what you like. I made my suggestion.

You should have clayed the car from the get-go, always a good idea on new cars. It removes overspray, rail dust, stuff like that, not to mention that doing so now will remove the wax you already applied.

I guess it depends on how often you detail your car. If you've got a "daily commuter" car that you want to constantly look like a show car then you'll have to detail your car at least once a week. If you're detailing that often then Zaino might be a pain to use since you have to order it and have it shipped to you. Other than that type of a situation I can't imagine it being a problem.

Yes, I should have clayed and detailed the car as soon as I got home from the dealership, but like most people I was excited to drive it, then my life got in the way (work, wife, kids, etc.) so I didn't have the time to detail the new xB until now.
