Default is it just me? or does the mr. clean auto dry wash..........

soap seem like its stripping the wax off the paint? i used it for the first time today and after i was done my paint felt like the wax was stripped off. no beading, no smoothness, nothin. i also noticed the rain-x on the glass was not working so well also. i was kinda dissapointed but i must say the auto dry part works pretty good. i was very skeptical at first but now am confident enough to recommend it. next time i'll just wash by hand then rinse with the purified water. does anyone remember the no dry/purified water car wash system that was sold on infommercial's? man, that thing came out so long ago and never really caught on. when the mr. clean system came out i was like i've seen this before. it seems like the $$$ spent on advertisng was the big difference between failure and sucess.

I agree on the stripping the wax, and I mentioned it here,
but got some flack for it.

Because it's so easy, people think it's the next best thing
to sliced bread.

So yeah, I've always felt there is no short cuts to doing a
good job. But that's just me.

I thought about this, but never expected distilled water would be something readily available from a hose, which is kind of what you'd need to eliminate water spots. You can let the water sit all day, but without contaminants, no residue is left behind. But, so... I guess I'll have to go read up on how this system works. Hopefully, it's not just some online commercial on the website telling me about its benefits. Need science.

The water isn't distilled, it's filtered. The Mr. Clean system uses Pur water filters to remove the impurities that leave spots. I bought and used this system this past weekend and I absolutely love it. No buckets! After rinsing my FM with the purified rinse, I let it dry in the sun. No spots at all, not a single one.

I do think the soap does strip the wax, since it left my car squeaky clean. But I had plans to wax the casr anyways, no harm, no foul.

Mr. Clean AutoDry for best invention ever.

Yeah, but you would wax after EVERY wash?

If you strip your wax, you have no protection. Black and Red
are the two cars most prone to UV damage.

It doesn't make sense to me to make one step easier, but
leave your paint unprotected.

I should pay more attention to this. I've used that Mr. Clean thing ever since I've had the xb (about 1year) and never noticed anything. It may be a problem as I was the car about 1x weekly, and put some Meguir'sNXT on it maybe every 1.5 months...

Hmmm... yeah, if anyone knows if it will work with another soap, then that might be ok. From what I read, the soap they provide actually has something in it, or maybe it's just BS and the purified water is all that is doing the work. If it'll work though, you could use another brand of soap and just lather up before using the AutoDry's rinse feature only.

Sure why not, I got the Mequiar's NXT Spray Wax. Takes me about 30 minutes to do the car. The tC is by far the easiest car I've owned to wax with it's glass roof (I use Rain-X spray for this) and simple clean body styling with no unneccessary body moldings.

I use dish washing soap and it works great, just put it in the soap resevoir, and your good to go, its mild, and I have not noticed it doing anything to my car, but yeah, any liquid soap works the same way, just put it in the resivoir and go about your buisness.

*don't* use dishwashing soap on your car!!!!
that will, without question, strip off any protectiong from your wax. it is NOT a good idea to do this, unless you plan on waxing your car immediately after washing/drying.

Will stop imediatly, actually, I have not used dishwashing soap in awhile, I use something that is made for carwashing, I think its Dupont Teflon, I dont remember... Thanks for the heads up though I did not know that, I stoped using Dishwashing soap when it left spots on my car. I learn from my mistakes. Thanks again, this is my first *NICE* car, all the others have been beaters, and never got washed, ever.

I have never, ever noticed the wax being stripped off by Mr. C. The only reason to believe there is any truth to this would be that the filtered water does not bead up on a waxed car like tap water does.

I haven't noticed this either. Wax seems to last just as long with me using the autodry. I love the system though!

i use klass that is some of the best stuff i've used so far. the water still beads after a month of not waxing and the car sitting in the sun. but ok fine maybe, just maybe its not lasting. but rain-x?!? now i couldn't even strip that if i wanted to. i just came home from work and it was raining. yesterday the water beaded right off. today it stuck or just kinda streamed off. while i was rinsing the car the water beaded off of the paint and glass. after wards it streaked all over but dried w/o spots.
