I went to do my oil change today. I drained my oil and noticed there was about 2.7 quarts in my oil drain pan. I though it was kinda odd, but when I looked at my oil filter. I saw it was loose and I could take it off by hand, and oil was dripping all down the side of it. My last oil change was in the winter and was done by a repair place. I only drive about 5000 miles a year. So it took me that long from feb to now to change my oil. At that time I have put 3000 miles on the car between changes. My question is this. Would the fact it was leaking oil and lost a quart do any dammage to my motor?
