Default maintenance reqd light

has anyone encountered their maintenance light coming out?
mine just did this morning.. it bilnked x6 after i started my car then went off... is this suppose to mean that there is something wrong in my car and i need to bring it to the dealeR? does it really blinks then stop blinking and just stays off if indeed it needs some maintenance? i dont think this is right since i just had my oil change and i only have 4500 miles on my car which i bought last september...
any inputs or comments would highly be appreciated...
thanks...!

if you just changed the oil, did you do the reset?
otherwise the computer thinks it is almost time for the oil change at 5000mi.

I agree with him ^^^^ the cars are set for the light to come up at 5K. Once the light comes up and Stays..the only thing you need to do is clear the Light...
