Default maintenance required light

I read the manual and it says it should show up at 5k miles and it did. I was wondering if this is a big deal because i am so paranoid about it. the manual says i should bring it for maintenance, is this required? and how do i turn off that annoying maintenance required light because it is annoying me. Also another thing, i hear this never ending sound kind of like a beep (not a loud one, kind of sounds like a noisy fan on a computer) coming from the engine (maybe by the headers to be exact) whenever the key is in the egnition.

The maintenance light is to tell you its time for an oil change. If you have had it changed, then look in the book and it will tell you how to reset it.

I dont remember the way to do it. Its something like turn the car to acc and press the reset button for milage or something like that. Call up you rparts department. They should be able to tell you over the phone.
