Maintiance Req. Light
So, today the maintaince req. light came on (blinking) , which I have no clue of why
. I just recently changed my oil and I just checked the Coolant level (resevior and rad.) and it was fine. I'm totally lost as to why the light comes on, so any help is very helpful. I'm going to let the dealer check it out also.
Thanks,
Thanks,
I had the same problem, just AFTER I had my oil changed. The manuel will tell you how to reset it. I think it comes on after so many miles to let you know to get your oil change (I think). Anyway, the manuel tells you how to shut it off. Its not real hard but it did take me a couple of attempts to do it. Good luck.
that should work... just a heads up though, (i remember hearing/reading this somewhere) if your odometer is on one of the trip distance settings you might wipe out your milage info... so switch over to the actual odometer before you restart your car...
I had the same problem after doing my first Oil change. I fixed it by resetting it the way the manual said. Also my light came of after 7500.....That one will not go out unless the service department clears it of the ECU.....

Reset Maintenance Required Light

After you've driven your Scion for a few thousand miles, you will see a "maintenance required" orange light flash for a few seconds in the center display console every time you start your car. Do not be alarmed. this is just a reminder to have your oil changed. If you change your own oil, you can reset the light. here is how:
1. Turn on the ignition and make sure it is on your odometer display, not the trip display.
2. Turn off your ignition. Hold down the trip meter reset button and turn the ignition on. Keep the button pushed in.
3. The maintenance required light will flash for a few seconds. when it turns off, let go of the reset button.
The the display will change for 1 second and go back to the mileage. That's it.

yeh, it comes on after 4500 miles of driving. just makes sure you're on odomoter mode, hold the button, start the car, let go when it goes out.
at the dealer we always turn it off for you, but there are the occasional slip ups. and occasionally the light comes on after it's been worked on so the tech never saw it.
