mis matched sized power wires on the headlights?
i put in sum higher wattage lightbulbs in my car right when i bout it a lil over a year ago. my left side burned out a couple days ago..... so i thought. i went to go remove it and noticed that my left side low beam socket had melted. when i replaced it with the high temperature headlight sockets i got from autozone i noticed that the left side power wires were alot smaller than the right side ones. im wonderin if this is normal. i will be checkin with the dealership the day after thanksgiving. it turns out that the headlight was not burned out ,it was because the socket melted and wasn't touching the connectors on the bulb. im thinkin it melted because of the smaller wires. the right side didn't melt because the wires were thicker. anyone else run into this problem too?

it got melted because your crappy bulbs weren't connecting well to the harness..
=> arc&spark => heat => more resistance => more heat => melted harness
nothing about the wires.. though having something too small is bad too... but your issue was the bulb.
