I tried this ONCE. Never again... i ended up with soooo many chips and scratches!

I also use the Mr. Clean Auto Dry System, and i have to say that i really like it... Mr. Clean for the large panels and a nice chamois/absorber for the smaller, more difficult areas. I always hated washing my car because i'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to water spots, but with this system i can get an absolutely spotless ride. I love it.

Bought the Mr. Clean Pro Series this evening. I will wash it by this weekend. As far as I can tell, the only differences to the main unit are the addition of a quick release water supply and a jet spray function (for tires and stubborn junk) It comes with a nice case, filter, soap, and a washing mitt. I will post here again when I use it.

I don't really care for it. I like using the water filter part but other than that it stinks IMO. I use micofiber towels to wash and it didn't take long for my towel to take on a very nasty look that didn't rinse out. So whatever was sticking to the towel was also rubbing on the car. My wife washed that towel twice and it still looks just as dirty and left a film in the washing machine tub. The soap gets everywhere. I constantly had to rerinse. The filtered water comes out in such a fine mist the car is practically dry by the time I get around it.

But the filtered water doesn't need any further operation, as long as you make sure to give the car a good rinsing to get the unfiltered water off. I use a lamb mitt and make sure to give it a cleaning frequently to clean the dirt off. No swirl marks, no water marks.

Yah that's definately the way to go. Someone with a dirty rag with a rock in it scrubbing down your prized posession. Can you really trust them to be as careful as you would be?

Listen people, it's a Chinese made piece of crap. I've used one, they lock you into buying their own soap, etc for it and it's not worth it. Get a bucket of water, some quality soap and a nice mit and do it the old fashioned way. Any spots will come out when you wax.

The Mr Clean Car Wash System is very nice and the best thing is that it dries almost exactly spotless (depending on wind and other factors such as sunlight and what not). I would definately recommend it.

Spots don't always come off when you wax. Many years ago I had a Honda CRX that I babied. It dried one day with spots. The wax didn't get them off completely and I could never get rid of them after that. I even had the car buffed and they were still there. Maybe waxes have gotten better since then but I still prefer to make sure I start with a spotless car.

i love this thing. i don't let it dry itself though. i still use towels or a chamios, but it takes away from having a water bucket.

Well I have used the pro series a few times now and I do like it. It is a little more powerful. The 'Jet Spray' is nice on the bugs. It's just a single stream, very powerful. It comes with a quick release, but it is tempermental and not recommended. The carrying case is really nice for those of us who have to travel to a hose (apartments and such) It's overall a good product. Just change that filter every 5 washes to expect no spots.

I would still use a cloth on the glass, but I always clean my glass at the same time, after washing. There should be no spots on the glass, but I still clean and usually rain-x every time anyway.

I would also recommend MC, especially for hard water. The trick to saving a little money using it is not buying the MC soap. Buy one of those Costco gallon sized car wash liquids. Use a bucket filled with the soap and water, a mit or MF towel to wash the vehicle (don't put the soap in the MC). Rinse off with regular water, then final rinse it with MC filtered water. The MC is nice when you just want to wash and go. 2cents.

I just got the pro series autodry as a gift from some friends cause they know what a nut I am washing my car every week. I don't think it's that bad.. I remember reading about some guy taking his car to an autowash every day.. insano

anyways, i read the manual last night and the pro series has it's own drainage system in the case so you don't have to let it dry first.. nice.. haha

this may be kinda dumb, but can somebody explain to me what hard water (or soft water?) is?

Hard water has a lot of minerals in it such as calcium, magnesium, dissolved salts, etc. It spots even more than softer water does. The MC system filters out the minerals on the spot free setting. I agree, this is a great product! The filters dont last as long as they say, but I can wash with no drying and have no spots.. definitely a good buy.

How do you find out if you have hard or soft water?

Ok some tips for a clean car. First if you are washing it frequently- ie more often than monthly one should have a high quality wax job applied to protect the paint. Most wax jobs will last a year if you only wash monthly or so. The more you wash the more often you need to wax. It also makes it easier to clean. Bug and tar remover also removes your wax job.

Another tip if you live where there alot of bugs and drive at night is PAM spray. A light coating on the front bumper, grill and leading edge of the hood and the area above the windshield makes the crud come off much easier. Just make sure it doesnt take your wax off- also test on an area hidden to make sure it wont effect your paint.

If you spray water on your car and let it dry, and there is white spots left on the car, then you have hard water. Those white spots are calcium and mineral deposits. Check out www.Autopia.org for some great info.
