Default Mr. Clean system with clay bar?

Would you recommend using the Mr. Clean system with a clay bar? Basically, I have only had my 06 Scion for only two weeks, but I'm eager to keep it on smooth & dark form from the start. Especially, for my step daughter who I want the best for. Is a claybar even necessary since the Scion is new?
Would a clay bar and the Mr. Clean formula work on my 99 S10? The paint is chipped and need of some help. I thought of taking it to a detail shop, but I can't afford that now. Im just a rookie around here.

I use the Mr. Clean system quite a bit and like it a lot. Once in awhile I will get mineral spots on my hood if I use regular water and will then use the clay bar to get them off. If you go to the Features menu and then the tech section you will see two detail guides--one from Mothers and one from mguires. They might be helpful.
