unless you're going for the "performance" aspect of it... you're not even halfway thru your tranny's oil life.

you can go ahead and order online and wait... or find a store that carries redline.

check the owners manual, our gear oil is GL-4 or GL-5 75W90, redline MT90 is perfect :D
I went to a dealer before and asked if they have tranny oil for a tc and the guy at the parts department didnt even know what kind of MT oil we have lol

that's cause they work in parts...

they just sell the stuff. they don't need to really know about cars much.

if service or tech guys ask for something.. they get it off the shelves and give it to them.

Well, how *good* are the GL-4's? I checked the manual on the car and thats required oil, my bro is telling me I don't need redline because its racing oil, I just want something that will boost the performance but I don't know what.

Mobil 1 would be good but I'm also told that I am suppose to use the recommanded oil on the manual

lol help

redline can be used racing or not.. its has the same spec as the one recommended in the manual.. its a good synthetic gear oil that has more stable properties, i say why not do it.. other good gear oil is amsoil, mobile 1 is fine too I even have like half of it with my redline

Well my last concern is just how some people tell me I HAVE to go with the recommanded oil (GL-4 from Toyota)

I honestly do find mobil 1 and redline much superior but lol everywhere I read it still tells me to check car manual for specification

thanks

and how many qtz do i need

you dont have to go with toyota oil, many have experienced improvements with redline and amsoil gear lubricants.. and oh redline MT90 is a GL-4 75W90 gear oil.. you will need about 2.75 quarts aprox..

I don't know if it matters (or is related) but I made the switch to Redline for my xB manual tranny. I now have a bearing going out that is going to cost me $1500 for a rebuild. Others that have used the standard oil (90w) have not had any issues. Yes, I have 150k on my box but there is another person with 200k on his and no issues.

Just a word of warning. I know Redline has a lot of accolades; but I think from now on I'm going to stick with Toyota recommendations.

I dont think redline has anything to do with it, and the redline MT90 is an oil that meets the toyota specifications, its just a different brand and a synthetic motor oil... its like putting mobil 1 synthetic motor oil instead of toyota natural motor oil
