How hot was it out? How humid? What kind of lube were you using for the clay?

And lastly, what kind of clay was it?

It's not uncommon for clay to disintegrate given the proper conditions

Purple spray bottle? Label has lime green on it. If so, it might be the NXT detailer.

That's odd. I never had trouble with Mothers clay bars.

I think I've heard of that with Mothers. Not a big deal, just try doing it next time when its not so hot or humid.

Also, rip the clay into a lot of smaller pieces... so that if one disintegrates or (more likely) you accidentally drop it, you can throw it away without having to waste the whole bar.

Meguiar's clay is excellent for over the counter clay.

How long have you used the clay? When it breaks down and you can't use it any more that is what it will do. If you have used it for a while it's time to buy some new clay, if it's new I would want a refund.

It should still be fine, unless you had a ton of contaminates in your paint, and that would break the clay down.

I used the same clay stuff recently to rub off some paint splatter and it was fine with the detailer stuff it came with but when it ran out i tried to use it with a drop of hand soap & REGULAR WATER mistake it started to fall apart right away so now I'm waiting to get paid to finish the rest of my car and get more of the detailer spray @ 9.99 per bottle. Rip off wish I knew what was in it so i could go a cheaper route!
