Default need advice (different oil filter part#s)

so i get my second free oil change last friday. ive been noticing the car has been a little sluggish. i thought i was the grounding kit that i got over the weekend but highly unlikely. i checked the oil change reciept and notice that there is a different oil filter listed than the first oil change. then i start to remember seeing the oil tech holding the filter and it did look shorter than the first one.

first change: 90915-YZZA2
second change: 90915-YZZF1

does anyone know if these filters are interchangeable?

thx

How would a shorter oil filter affect the performance of your car... answer... it won't. I worked for toyota and there were often different capacity filters for the same model, the smaller capacity are normally cheaper and that is what the dealer would install unless someone specifically asked us to install a larger capacity filter. I wouldn't wory about it too much.

Hey poly, you live in san luis obispo, correct? I am coming out there this summer to ride at pismo beach dunes. Have been there and gone four wheeling?

Sorry to go off topic

the car is sluggish is because america has cheap ghetto gas, the tC is made to use 87 octane as they said. try adding higher octane gas to clean the fuel injectors?

i do that once in a while, or buy those fuel injector cleaner which is basically octane also, that should boost that sucker back up XD

Maybe they used 10W-30 instead of 5W-30? I've heard stories how some dealerships do this. Not sure if thats what happend this case though....

You're right, Jeff. Some places have just a large vat of 10W-30 that they use for everything. Unless you actually see your oil coming out of sealed quart containers, you really have no guarantee of what you got (other than the always truthful word of your dealer, of course).

I watched my dealership open 4 quarts of Castrol SYNTEC 5W-30 and pour it in, so I know what went into mine.

Agreed, this is also why I change my own oil as well. So much for the 3 free oil changes I guess. After almost 20k miles, I still haven't used one yet.

Tomas, what you do think of the castrol syntec oil? I'm currently using mobil 1. Not that I have any problems with it, just was wondering if theres a difference.

I'm sure there are differences, Jeff, but since I intend to be conservative in my oil change intervals (no going for any highest milage or longest duration records...) whatever the differences are they are probably too minor to affect me.

I've had good experience with the SYNTEC and have heard good reviews of it. It does what I need it to do, and since my dealership offered it to me, I took them up on the offer. :D

Basically I run 5W-30 SYNTEC (not SYNTEC blend) with the Toyota YZZA2 filters and change at 6 month intervals (yeah, I don't add a whole lot of miles).

Good filters are inexpensive. Autozone has several that
