Crumpled newspaper just scares me... and do you use Stoner Invisible Glass? I hear its good stuff and I assume crumpled newspaper is fine on tint?
And yeah... I'm pretty OCD about my windows too.

First of all, make sure the microfiber is clean.
When you use the microfiber, make sure you fold it into four.
Use a new side each time you start on a new section.
I use Meguiar's NXT glass cleaner and use that technique and don't get smudges or streaks.

actually i use surigical towels that are hermetically sealed, my wife gets them from doing surgical procedures. I only recomended it for those who do not have other options, and its better then most other options.
good high quality paper towels work too, stoners product is safe for window tint. i would not recomend newspaper on the inside of the windows, you could scratch your tint, go buy some good paper towels......

"The biggest thing to be aware of is aftermarket window tint. Unless the tint installer tells you differently, these windows must be cleaned with ammonia-free window cleaner. Standard glass cleaner uses ammonia (for it's cleaning ability) which is not compatible with window tint. So if you use Windex or any other glass cleaner, be sure it is ammonia-free.
To be on the safe side, just use alcohol-based glass cleaner for all glass. If you needed to make your own, it could be done with a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol-pretty much like the washer fluid for your windshield.
Paper towels are okay, but they tend to leave lint. Some people use newspaper, which I never understood, since just READING the newspaper gets ink on your fingers. Why get it all over your hands and the car interior by using it for windows? There are so many better alternatives. The best towels to use for windows are microfiber, diaper cloth, or surgical towels. In my opinion, the diaper towels available at Wal-Mart are the best-they are super-soft and absorbent. Microfiber is good too, but I seem to have better luck with the diaper cloth. Surgical towels work well too, because in their original application they must be lint-free, which is great for windows, but I find they aren't as absorbent or as soft as the diaper cloth unless they are old and worn.
Now about a technique for wiping the window? Believe it or not, there is one. It's called the Box, Flip, and Fill. First, spray the window. Then wipe the window edges (boxing), being sure to get into the corners. Then flip the towel, and fill in the rest of the window. It works pretty well; you might have to clean glass two or three times with a clean towel each time. The final touch is to put the window down an inch or two and clean the top edge. The top edge is always a really dirty spot, so be sure to clean it."

BTW, from what I understand, that "haze" may just be that the tint adhesive isn't completely dry (which can take over 30 days in some instances).

^^ I've also read that the point of the ink on newsprint is to act as a "polish" for the glass
whether or not its true I don't know, and I don't use newspaper because last time I did I got horrible streaking. Not dissing newspaper but I think I just used some old crappy newspaper
I just use MF towels. Still get streaks that are visible in driect sunlight though. Still researching and trying to get them to go away...

For nearly 30 years now I have simply used an old bath cloth and a hand towel on the windows. Wet the wash cloth and wring the excess water out. Wipe the inside of the window and dry with a bath hand towel. After a couple windows I rinse the wash cloth out. If you do use any old bath towels there are some precautions when washing them. First, I run them through two washings using no fabric softner and then dry them without any dryer sheets.

pretty much any type of window cleaner will do, It really is all about the newspaper. Just be sure that you are using only the b&w part of the newspaper, color ink can leave stains that are a pain in the @#! to get out once the sun hits em. Most streaks are from the chemicals that are on the surface of the window, once the sun hits your window the chemicals tend to surface. Water seems to work the best for me. Ill go detail my car today and post a diy hahaha.
