A Nightmare [2005 Scion XA] Help!
76,000 miles here. I've had a lot go wrong, which is why I joined this forum because I'm tired of being taken to the cleaners by mechanics.
1. Serpentine belt blew, slapped the hell out of my Scion's water pump (destroying it and causing the car to overheat). Once it was replaced, squeaking came back in a couple days and hasn't gone away. Shop won't even inspect it again without a payment.
2. Not sure my spark plugs or my filters have been replaced...ever. Aside from my oil filter, that is. I keep going to mechanics and they keep giving me the "yea, looks great" routine. It's been 7 years guys, come on.
3. Shakes and sounds like hell on the inside. It has literally started sounding like flying in an airplane at take off and landing.
4. Transmission keeps slipping on ~2nd gear. Not sure why but I can't accelerate like I used to. The gas pedal and brake pedal are both loose and move around.
I think my car needs a serious overhaul, but the cost...it might just be worth it to trade it in and start paying on a new Scion.
Edit: I forgot that my brake pads were worn down (my own fault, should have replaced them sooner) and scraped the rotors. I had the rotors and pads replaced but recently a caliper has been stuck. WAY too much to replace that right now.
