Default Oil Cap on XB?

Yesterday, I got into another accident. Second one in less than a year!

While, when I turned on the car, I started hearing weird sounds coming from under the pedals. So, I opened the hood and was shocked to see that my oil cap was missing and oil was all over the engine and the insides. I thought the impact caused the cap to come off, but forgot that I also checked my oil a few weeks ago.

I also noticed that I have been leaking oil, as the places I parked had oil on the ground. So, my question is, is it possible for the oil cap to come off so easily?

The dealership changed my oil.

If it is left loose, it can vibrate off. You might look around the nooks and crannies of the engine bay, you might find it!

A little oil can make a big mess. Pull the dipstick and see if the level shows on the stick. If it does, it's unlikely that damage was done.

Default UPDATE!!!

I called the dealership who changed my oil and the manager told me he is taking full responsibility. He said they are going to clean the oil out and give me a free oil cap and check out the engine.

after any dealer oil change, before i get off the lot i check my oil,and the cap,the people that change your oil at the dealer cant hit their ___ with both hands!sometimes they put too much oil in.i dont trust anybody to do the right thing,it is up to you to go behind these people and check!i am coming up on my 3rd free oil change after it i will do my own, then i know it will be right.

Best to check the oil after a change anywhere but your own place. A garage left the drain plug out of the car of my ex old lady once. She, of course, paid no attention to the low oil pressure light. The garage bought a new Cadillac engine.
