hey guys going to go pickup my 06 5spd BSP now, picked up wax and microfiber towels rain x stoners etc. but dad is sayin not good to wax on new car cus it might strip the clear coat. I am using meguiars gold class which is clear coat safe (until shining monkey products get in)... my question is: is it okay to wash/wax a new car? or better to wait a while until something in clear coat settles in more? I want to wash then wax to make sure car is protected but not if it's gonna strip clear coat

The car just got in last thursday off the truck hasn't been on lot or test driven or anything

Thanks will be lookin for reply when i get back!

I waited over 2 months to wax mine for the first time just because I didn't really see a need for a coat of wax right away, as well as I wanted to be sure I didn't ruin anything with the paint. I'm not wash/wax psycho though. Someone else might be able to provide some actual facts or info on it.

Wax it. New paints cure almost instantly so there is no need to wait. Older 1 stage paints required curing time of up to 6 weeks, but new paints arent that way. The dealer option of "paint sealant" for up to $500 is simply a sythetic sealant like Zaino, and they put that on right away.

Exactly. Go ahead with it. It's definitely a preference thing, but I did clay bar on mine when I did my first wax on it, and it made a world of difference; even on brand new paint. Good luck.
