Proper way to clean/degrease the engine?
Ok, I want to keep my engine bay clean, and it has some mud spots and dirt/dust. buildup
I have done this before on other cars that were older...but with a new car like the tC I have not. I want to make sure I don't ruin anything. What all should I cover to ensure if I hose it down it will safely remove the dirt.
I know to stay away from the intake and such...I also search the tC forum for clean engine and degrease engine w/ no luck on results...thx

From my experience, the engine is pretty much waterproof. Before shows, when I take my car to the carwash, I just open my hood and use the want to spray away the dust and other stuff. I don't use the high pressure spray, just lightly spray it down. Then, at home, I use Simple Green to degrease everything and then rinse it off again. To get it looking really pretty, I sometimes use a microfiber towel with a little big of quick detailer on it, a towel with a little tire shine on it, or, if I am desperate, Armor All Interior Wipes.
