Wax test complete after 103 days!
I cleaned up my xB today. I was almost out of what I have been using for some time, Meguiars NXT Tech Wax (liquid) so I picked up some of the same,
in the paste variety. I also had some Griots Carnauba Paste Wax (40% carnauba!!!) and wanted to compare the three for my own use, and I thought
I'd share the results.
I put all of the three on my freshly washed and clayed hood, in the areas shown below.

To divide the hood up, I just went with where the sprayers are and ran a line up and down to divide the three. Please note that Liquid NXT
and the Spray NXT are different. I did not use the spray variety. I applied all with the same type of microfiber-wrapped foam pad, which I love.
I did not use the same pad for any of the waxes. I buffed all of the waxes off using the same type of microfiber towel, but again, not the same
towel for more than one wax. I just put them on tonight, so I only have my thoughts on the application and removal of each wax at this point.
I will update this thread when they see some time outdoors.
#1: Meguiars NXT Tech Wax - Liquid

I have used this wax for quite some time, but the bottle was running out. so I thought I'd try some others. It goes on very easy being a liquid.
It comes off as easily as it goes on. No buffing required. Really only a couple passes of the towel and it was completely clean.
#2: Meguiars NXT Tech Wax - Paste

This also goes on really easily. I have used several pastes in the past and this has to be the softest I have ever used. As a result, it is very
easy to pick up with the applicator out of the can. This is so soft, it really seems to be the liquid in a different container. On the downside, it
is very easy to go through it very quickly. I do not see it lasting more than two waxes. I will actually be pretty happy if I get two full waxes
out of it. It gets on the applicator so easily, and spreads easily. The only problem I saw with application was that it is too easily to take
a huge glob out of the container. The difference I saw between it and the liquid was that as I was applying, I heard some noise like I
was rubbing across sandpaper. The hood is perfect, and this noise is not uncommon to pastes, but after using a liquid, the application
sounds as if it's doing damage. Taking the wax off requires a lot more buffing than the liquid to remove it completely. The one flaw in my
test came after I waxed. I saw a slight etch in my paint in a very small area. I polished it out and reapplied the wax. This was a
very small area and I have noted where it was located.
#3: Griots Garage Paste Carnauba wax

Rock solid. Getting this stuff out of the container and on to your applicator requires a lot of work. It is very solid, and takes quite some
rubbing to get it on to the applicator. It is purple and it smells good. Application is easy and very even once you finally get some
onto the applicator. Removal is on par with the NXT paste. Buffing required to clean it off, as opposed to the simple wiping with the NXT
liquid. This wax has about the highest carnauba content of any wax commonly available (40% vs. much less than 10% on most
every other wax) so I am interested to see how it olds up.
The shine seemed to be equivalent between the three, as did the feel of them all. They are all smooth and shiny. I will update in a few weeks.

i'd like to see how this turns out. however, the nxt waxes both have abrasives added into them so they clean the paint as they go on.
that carnuba wax is a topper for a polishing wax like nxt. it would probably make the next polished areas look awesome too. nice test, we'll see what happens

I've used many good quality past waxes in my 40 years (OK- 25 of actual driving) and was always searching for the "best". I started trying the Meguiars NXT Tech Wax (liquid).
It goes on and comes off easy for sure, but didn't seem to really last. Also, it really leaves white residue on some surfaces like black plastic and rubber that seems to show up a week or so later.
I'm thinking that it's too thin and really works more like rain-x- filling in the holes to create less surface tension rather than "building up" a thicker layer of wax overall.
Anxious to see your report

Update:
It rained today. I could see no noticeable difference. I was getting rained on and did not take the best pics, but here they are nevertheless.

Cleaned the car off today. Water still beads pretty well on all three sections, but the NXT liquid is fading. There are areas where the beads are no longer round, and the beads are larger. The other two sections seem to be holding up quite well. The beads are not as small as when first applied, but still looks nice. There is no difference in feel in the three.
I completely forgot to take pictures, but will do so this week.

I washed the car today, and here is what I see: Griots holding up very well. The two NXTs are fading fast. If anything, I would say the liquid NXT is holding up better than the paste.
For shine: I can tell no difference. For feel, the Griots is still very smooth. On both the NXTs, I can tell they are not as smooth, but there is no noticeable difference between the two NXTs

Griots on drivers side.

Well I am done with this test. The weather is getting cold this week so I wanted to get some fresh wax on the car.
I clayed the car and put on some of my new favorite wax. Not before I took some pictures, though. Here we go:
NXT liquid:

There is a patch on the front of the hood where there is NO wax left. It is in the bottom middle of the above picture.
NXT paste:

Slightly better than the liquid, but still missing some wax in areas. This is visible in the middle of the above picture.
Griots Paste:

Still alive and kickin. In case it is not immediately obvious, the spots where the water is not beaded up is due to the water that was beaded up
in those areas ran off. This is not what happened in the other pictures, that wax was gone. This stuff was a little tough to apply, but given that
it tends to apply in very thin coats, that small container will no doubt last many, many, many coats.
Winner: Griots.

nxt paste lasts about a month on my hood. my car is outside all the time and it rains a good amount here
winter is coming up soon, so i applied only 1 layer of collinite 845. i'm going to see how long that will last, it seems to be some of the longest lasting from what i've read. they put it on boats and it protects against saltwater. also something on the bottle says that it is used on powerlines to prevent flash.
we'll see in a few weeks
