Default Re-Painted Bumper

Question about my painted bumper...it just got back from the body shop....it looks really good when your looking at it in the sun it matches perfect...but when your in the shade...it looks a little dull, will this go away? It also has a little orange peel effect going on, he said it will take at least a month for everything to settle in and the true something to come out...i dunno what he's talking about but he said i cannot wax it for another month....when i clay bar it and wax it later on will it re-shine the area?

Also where he sanded the scratches out..it shows through the paint..i am like WTF! i am not sure if that will go away or i should take it back..because you can only see it when you are looking at it, at the right angle and only in the shade...HMMM!!!

If you can see defects now they will not go away later. Almost all the paints used now are essentially cured within 48 hours except they should not be waxed for a month or two. I also would not recommend a clay bar for at least 6 months.

hey scooby.. if you can see orange peel now it's that they didn't paint the bumper correctly.. if your insurance paid for this, get an appt with the adjuster and have them look at it.. they can make the place paint it again..

and the scratches? they didn't wet sand it correctly either.. have the adjuster look at that too..

sorry i don't have better news

Well crap....it's not exactly orange peel..it's just like different looking HA! but i am really picky, if you look at it straight on in the sun it's perfect you would never tell. The people who did it are ICARR certified, and i am not sure i want to take it back because they might make it worse, other then that if you are walking by it you would never know anything was there, unless you park in the shade and stare at it. Other then that you cant see jack. Umm i will try and take pictures..but i am hesitating to take it back because i dont want to make things worse or anything. I just got the work done thursday by the way, and just washed the car today. The paint feels perfectly smooth to the touch also.

i dunno!

i hear ya about trying to make people fix work.. it usually just gets worse, not better..

i am wondering since it's flint mica (it is FM?) it could be the flakes in the paint (mica) that may be too many? or too little.. and that's giving the "uneven" surface appearance.. yeah some pics would be nice to see but that's my only thought..
yeah i've heard the FM is really hard to get re-painted.. if that's any consolation..

I dont know i will try and get some pics. The only thing is that YES it's FM the flakes seem to shine the same in the sun...maybe a little more then the other parts on the car, but i dont know i dont want to make it worse and take it back ya know? We'll see what happens..i will give it until i wax it to see if it changes...even though people say it wont HA! but we'll see.

the orange peel can be color sanded and buffed out.
if you can see sanding marks through the paint, they didnt prep it enough.
