sea foam
hey guys, i just wanted to let everyone know aboput this product. i dont know hopw many of you already know about it or who doesnt. sea foam is for your fuel injection and it is the absolute best thing. i use it every 5k in my tc.(im almost at 19k) but i used this product for years. you can get it hrough your local auto zone. now for directions:
1. put 2 dents in the can (1/3 way down each time)
2. turn on car
3. disconnect the top part of you air intake (stock intake)
4. disconnect the brake bootser line (located on the brake booster on the driver side firewall)
5. with the car running, suck up the first third of the fluid through you brake booster line( this is the best line cause it feeds all 4 cyls.)
6. turn off car
7. pour 2nd third in the crank case (frees sticky lifters and what not)
8. pour last third in the gas tank.
9 let sit for about 5 mins.
10 st.art car and let idle for about 1-2 mins (exhaust WILL BE EXTREME so do in a well ventilated area [outside])
11. drive around the block till the white smoke goes away and your done!
just so you all know it IS O2 sensor safe. you WONT throw a CEL. just wanted to share. this stuff only caost about $5 so its wwell worth it

You dont need it. Back in the day when I had a corsica, ppl where using this stuff. They said it did help out, the only diff, there cars had over 100,000 miles. So until you get up there in milage, its a waste. Just like the restore stuff would do you know good.
Thanks for the tip halfbreed, you are correct...SeaFoam is a great product but I also have to agreed with the others...using it on a new engine, especially at 5K intervals is waaayyy extreme. This product will wash the cylinder walls clean of oil and cause the rings to wear on the cylinders, albeit for just a short time,...on a high mileage engine this won't matter but on a new one it's too much wear for the benefits derived.
yea.. i used this on my s10 with about 170k miles... i worked wonders... but i put it in through the pcv valve until the truck died.. waited 5 mins and then cracked.. worked wonders.. good stuff, but wouldn't use it on my new tc

I will have to post the stuff my father uses at his shop. As far as me, him and all other mechanics in his area are concerned is THE only stuff to use to clean the fuel system. Other products such as Sea Foam and HEAT are ok for removing condensation, but not much use for actual cleaning of already dirty injectors. I beleive what he uses is made by BRK, but I will have to make sure of that. It s $14 - $18 per can, but more than worth it. The white smoke you mention is nothing but the sea foam burning up. At 20K miles or so it will make little difference unless it has been 20 below in your area and you have moisture buildup.
I will ask him next time I call him what the full name is. I know I got a can from him for one of my cars and it made an immediate and noticeable difference.

I would not reccomend using Sea Foam in a new engine especially one with tollerances as tight as a Toyo motor........as stated above it does wash the cylinder walls clean of all oil residue for a short time.as well as the gas out of the injectors (gas lubricates the injector internally)
I was a auto technition and motorcycle mechanic for years (and Sea Foam has been around that long) now I sell chemicals to the automotive industry.
I work for Zep Mfg. but I reccomend a product by another manufacturer for cleaning Injectors and top end de-carbon . It is made by BG and it's called 44k if you use this approx every 50k in your car , and run good quality gas the rest of the time this will keep your top end and injectors clean.
As stated in a post above they run Chevron gas this has the one of the best detergents in it for keeping your injectors clean .
Now all that said there is a place for SEA FOAM on older high mileage cars it will unstick lazy injectors !!!! NUFF SAID
