Default Should I get rotors machined when changing brake pads?

I just bought Axxis Ultimate brake pads for my tC, and even though I don't need to change them, I want something with a little more bite. I already measured my rotors and they are all within spec (thickness and runout), but is it necessary to have them machined since this isn't an OEM replacement?
