synthetic oil
I run Silkolene PRO S in my xA (same engine) however it is very expensive $48.00 for 5 liters, but it as high a quality of "Real" race oil as there is. I've been using it for a long time in my motorcycles and it is wonderful.

search this forum for other topics on synthetic oil. there were a few "great debates" in some older topics. You can easily go more than 4k, but I'll let you read and make an informed decision.
I used to use mobil 1, however, after seeing the dyno results on Horsepower TV (SPIKE TV) I've switched to Royal Purple. I'm still running mineral oil in the xb, but I've got the RP set aside to go in once I do a baseline run on the dyno...
I used dyno oil, changed around every 1,000 until 4k. Switched to Mobil 1 synthetic. Change every 4k now.
I believe more in Mobil 1 because they are a VERY Large company, I know they have the money to put in R&D and they will be here for a long time to come.
If I were still using dyno juice, I would change every 3k.

my first oil change i used castrol syntec cause i had great results on my previous cars but i am using mobile 1 now every 2500 miles. funny thing is in my other cars mpg went up after using synthetics but on my box it has not changed
Even using Mobil 1 i still change every 3000 miles. Even though the synthetic oil will not break down it does still get dirty. 4000 miles would probably be ok - i just dont like to take chances.
Mobile 1. But I'm going to push it to 5000 miles with quality
Synthetic oil filters. My 10,000 is coming up, and I'll gauge
how the oil looks when I drain it.
I'm also switching to Synth Manual Trans fluid at 10,000

The regular WIX, NAPA, or Toyota filters should be just fine so long as your keep you oil change intervals reasonable.
(I use a full synthetic, offered by my Scion dealer, with the OEM Toyota filters, and change at 5000 mile intervals. My xB is happy, my dealer is happy, I'm happy. :D )

Mobile 1 5W30 and I'm pushing to 5000 between oil changes
because I'm using K&N, Mobile1, TRD, or Denso oil filters.
Actually I'm testing each filter out, and cutting them open
when I'm done to see what they look like on the inside!
Anyone know where I can get one of those oil filter can openers? Tomas?
