Do you use synthetic oil in your xA or xB?
if so, what kind do you use and have you noticed any benefits from using it? ie: better mileage, more horsepower etc....

You forgot Mobil 1. I have been using Mobil 1 since i have been driving ( just as long as some of the xB owners are old ). Depending on your climate, you should go with the basic 10W30 and change it every 6K miles. I know, i know, ill get up-teen different posts here on "thats too long" & "change the filter every 3K" & "your nuts!" But like i said, i have been doing it this way for about 16 years now, and havent had one problem that was oil related with any of my cars. Matter of fact, i switched the oil in my '78 Nova when i got it used, had about 87K miles on it, and had really noisey lifters. Changed it to Mobil 1, and gradually i noticed that the noise was considerably less
Sythetic is worth the extra, JMO. And if you do decide to go synthetic, go with a decent filter, i use PurlatorOne ( the lil blue guys, go for about 6 bucks a pop ). Oh, and let your motor break in first too, about 1500 miles should be about right.

i just changed my oil for the first time (i don't trust the dealer as far as i can throw them)....i love my car too much to just hand over the keys to anyone....anyways, i put valvoline synpower 5w30 in it. And i KNOW this sounds stupid, but it really seems that the engine runs better and has more power than b 4.

I'm not currently running it in my xB, but I will.

I work at a toyota dealership in Maryland
In my opinion your engines do not need synthetic oil...its just a waste of money...it'd be like putting high octane fuel in your car..its not necessary...yes you may see a small improvement in HP...and i do mean SMALL...its not worth your money!!! Change your oil every 3-5 k and you will be fine. Toyota is a HIGH quality product ...there is no need to waste your hard earned cash on synthetic unless you have already turbo charged your engine
