Wax
Wax time.
I have a Black Sand xB. I am not to experienced in waxing cars. I went and bought a can of Turtle Wax, but somebody told me that was bad. Is there a certain kind of car wax I should use? I looked through my manuel, didn't see a certain typse I should use.
What do you use?

I use the meguiars 3 step process. Paint cleaner, polish , and wax. That is the best thing in my opinion. I have also tried the Shining Monkey stuff, but it didn't seem to last as long as the meguiars although while it did last, it was very good as well.
Right on, I heard good things about Meguiars. I didn't realize how in detail wax is, but I understand, if it is not right, it could screw up your paint. I din't know if paint color had anything to do with it, or what type of metal the car was, etc. I will check out Meguiars.
I have tried Meguiars, Mothers, and Liquid Gold. Can't tell any difference between them. Will probably stick with the Meguiars from now on. That is what several of the local detail shops around here use.
If you can get past the photo of the goofy blond with the huge rack, there is lots of
good info on this page:
Autopia Car Detailing How To
I've done some car shows with the Porsche club, and many of the guys there
prefer the Zymol. That's probably what I'm going with, though there are many
other decent brands out there.
Meguiars is OK, but they use too much petrolium based mixes when we really need
pure wax based mixes. So the Meguiars doesn't work as long or protect as well.
Here is another good article compairing a couple of brands. Not enough in
my opinion, but still a good start: http://www.nsxsc.com/nsexcitement/waxtest.html
With our newer cars using Japanese paint and clear coats, a good washing and
waxing with QUALITY carnuba was is really all we need. Hopefully you guys haven't
taken your cars through the cheap automatix washes or let someone hand wash
with dish detergent or something like that...otherwise you probably have some
nasty swirls and such.
Once the weather is nice I was planning on putting together a photo how to for these
forums, since I have a decent amount of experience from my Porsche days.
Here is some 32 year old paint on this old Porsche. I've not even polished it in this
photo, this was just a good washing and detailing.

I hope it helped some. I know it's a LOT reading and a lot
of work and a goodly amount of money, but it's worth the
effort for dark colors like your BSP and my BOP.
I'll have more writeups as the weather permits.

When I get my xB, I'm going to ask that the dealership not dry the car after they wash it. I suspect that was the original source of all swirl marks on my previously owned cars. Check out the link above and pics from their photo gallery - they've got a top quality product.
Hmmmm-- Good WAX I like that Permaplate that is good WAX but you only get it from a Dealer ship an they wax 500$ to do your whole car inside an out-- I use to work at a deatilshop for 2 years an I like Carnuba Wax it is good an last 3 months-- I try to wax my car every 2 months-- I have some products my buddy owns a Detail shop an I get all my stuff from him-- I detail cars on the side at my house just for some poeple I know-- I keep my car nice all the time

Liquid wax doesn't have as much carnuba as a true
paste wax. The higher the quality the wax, the more
carnuba is in it, and the less petrolium and other junk you
*don't* want in your paint! Honestly, most liquid wax
could hardly be called wax.
Zainos is good stuff, but I wouldn't put it as the *best*.
There are waxes out there that people pay $300+ for
an 8 Ounce jar. Stupid IMHO, but it's the most highly
refined, cleanest, well mixed wax there is.
Lots of good stuff out there, and if you are serious about waxing your car, you should
be spending $40 for a quality wax. There are some decent $20 wax, but I think
the breaking point for really nice wax is more like $40 and up.
After that, the proper cleaning materials, espeically microfiber cloth and wash
mits are a really big deal.

I use ziano brothers for detailing, and nxt for maintience waxing.. nxt is by far the easiest to take off and leaves a great gloss... ziano works great for scratchs and polishing up the clear coat...
