Wax Test!! (56k=REDRUM)
I'm putting a $62, 8oz jar of the handmade Zymol Titanium up against the $16
bottle of Meguiars NXT Tech Wax (Liquid).
First coats went on tonight, second coats tomorrow, and more photos in full daylight!
Anyone interested to know more?

I wouldn't think either would offer the gloss, depth, or protection of Zaino Z2 PRO topped with Z8 Spray Seal.
But your first photo was impressive so I anxious to see what you think.

Yeah- seriously lame. This a community, bro. Everyone around here shares info, advice, etc. because we all love our cars. It's give and take. You're probably getting good info and help by being here, so you gotta give back. Otherwise, you're just taking up space.
Besies, if you think someone's going to send you $25 for what could turn out to be a tub of lard you're dreaming. Take your ball and go home.
Damn- that's definitely the harshest post *I've* ever written. But I don't want to get off topic. I look forward to seeing the results of the wax-off.

Wax Shop Super Glaze is still my favorite. I can wax my whole car in a hour without making my arm sore. Super glaze can go on the headlights and taillights and if it gets on rubber or plastic it comes off easily. I've tried many others and ended up throwing most the bottle out.
The detailer guy is probably taking a label off a bottle from PepBoys.

Well said guys!
I hope this wax test shows up well on the internet.
Honestly, looking at my photo I'm quite dissapointed as it
really doesn't do real life justice. I thought I had a very good
camera, but maybe it's just getting old. I'll do my best to
represent the results visually. Second coat of each goes on
this afternoon after work (half day today), and I'm going to
take more cloud photos, glare photos (sun reflecting) and
do a little water across the hood to show how they both
bead/sheet water. I figure I'll also come back in a month and
then again in two months with updated photos to show longevity.
Am I missing anything? Any suggestions or requests?
Oh, and thanks for the Wax Shop suggestions DbB. I know
of lots of great products out there, and I'm doing my best
not to get distracted by them. There just isn't enough room
on my hood to test them all! LOL

Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Even with my 1337 camera
skills, I don't think it's going to come out well. And honestly,
except for feel, these two are SO close nobody out here can
tell one from the other!
It's also drizzling right now, so I can't finish up the second
coat today unless the drizzle stops for a bit.

I was hoping it was going to rain, the drizzle wasn't enough to show the water bead,
and I wasn't motivated enough to bust out the water hose.
I did get one more coat of each on before it got too dark to work, so I'll take photos and throw some water at it in the morning, and I'll give my personal impressions.

I'm working on it. I took some more today, but our local club
had a Dinner and a Drive In night, plus my girlfriend turned
21 tonight. So it's almost 5AM and I just got home. I'll
download the photos when I wake up!

UPDATE!
OK, here is what I've been waiting on. This is going to be 56k Murder, so I hope you
guys checking this out have broadband!
First off, the hood split, Ala Meguiar’s. These photos are 1 coat of Zymol Titanium on
one side, and 1 coat of Meguiar’s NXT Tech Wax (Liquid):
Left Side:
Right Side:
And now the tape Removed, second coat of wax on each half:
Left Side:
Right Side:
Whole Hood:
The second coat of wax photos are a little darker because I took them at 10AM just
when the sun was really beating down on the hood (you can see it through the clouds).
No matter how I adjusted the camera, it was either dark (As you see it) or it was so
bright it was burning the CCD and the photos were nothing but a giant lens flair!
But you can see how glossy and reflective my hood is. And honestly, CAN YOU SEE
A DIFFERENCE?
And now for the Water Test (more details/story later):
Closer to the hood:
Now I really wanted to show the hood and how water beaded on each side, and
honestly, except for the upper right hand corner, the water was just sheeting off and
not really showing ANY difference.
I while I'm making a big mess of the hood, I realized some overspray was getting on
my roof. THIS is what a properly waxed car does when water hits it:
Notice how round and perky the water beads are? They are almost perfect half circles
like they just want to JUMP off the roof. THAT is what water should do when it hits
your paint when it's properly protected. This is properly sealed and protected paint
that will save you from water etching, bird droppings, and dust/dirt.
Here is a SUPER LARGE untouched up, close up photo of the water beads on
my roof to give you a good idea of what your paint should look like when you take the
time to protect it"

Looks like beads of glass, huh?
Now, a side story and some details and thoughts on the use of these products.
For application of these waxes I used the obligatory Porter Cable DA (Dual Action)
RO (Random Orbital) and special wax pads. One pad was used exclusively for
each product, and marked so they wouldn't get mixed up. Applying the Meguiar’s
NXT Tech Wax Liquid is a breeze, just like any other good Meguiar’s product.
Removal of the NXT wax is super easy, and I would whole heartedly recommend the
NXT Tech Wax to someone waxing by hand.
The Zymol Titanium paste wax is a high end, hand made blend of both yellow, and the
higher quality white carnuba wax. It's completely organic and full of natural oils and
carnuba, 51% carnuba in fact. Which is a really high amount considering most carnuba
waxes are only 4% to 11%. All that said, the Zymol is a real nightmare to do by hand.
It's a real skill to get the wax on evenly, without getting too thick. When you get the
wax on too thick, it's like scraping gum off your shoe, it just doesn't want to come off!
On the flip side, using the Porter Cable with the Zymol was a DREAM! It laid down
flat, and evenly. Came off as easily as the Meguiar’s (because it was put on so even
and perfectly thin), and just really made the paint POP!
So, after all is said and done, I doubt anyone can tell any difference in the photos,
no matter how good or bad my camera is. I would randomly stop people walking their
dogs or anyone who compliments my work on the box, and ask them what they thought,
and nobody could tell the difference from one side to the other. Except for
touch! EVERYONE who had the courage to touch the hood commented on how one
side was just smoother and more glass like then the other, and every time it was the
Zymol side. Beyond that, the gloss, the pop, the luster, the depth, was all about the
same between the two. Even the water beading was pretty close.
Side story:
So I'm touching the hood with the back of my hand, just rubbing my fingers on each
side of the hood, admiring the feel when I look down and see that I just left this series
of big white scratches on the hood. I'm like WTF!! I figured I had just scored the
wax, and proceeded to buff it out by hand. Then bust out the PC and buff it with a
MicroFiber cloth. No results. So I bust out the buffing compound, extra fine cut and
hit the hood with that, and it hardly puts a dent in the scratches.
So yeah, because I chipped a nail while cleaning my wheels or adjusting my light kit
on the box or something, I managed to scratch my paint with a rough finger nail.
I have to say, Toyota, this paint is absolute steaming pile of elephant dung and
I'm terribly disappointed! Working this closely with my paint over the past few weeks,
washing, waxing, and detailing, I've learned where all my paint chips and scratches
and gouges are in my paint from road debris or whatever...but this is pretty sad that
I can scratch my paint by gently rubbing my hand across it. What trash you push on
us!
Any questions, comments, or clarifications, feel free to post here!
Thank you for your time reading this (hopefully you bothered rather then just
skimming through. I took the time to write it, so I hope you take the time to read it!
