what fuel cleaner/fuel injector cleaner should I use?
Any recommendations for a fuel cleaner/injector cleaner - addititve to use?
My box had a drop in MPG during the winter due to poor quality winter gas in California (see my post for details).
Some folks recommended I use a cleaner to clean out the system from the additives used with the gas.
Any suggestions as what to use? Where to get it?
Thanks

hey K9 Crate.. I used Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner on my Civic a couple times.. never worked at all.. I then tried BG products 44K fuel cleaner, now that worked great! dumped that into the tank then filled up.. no more problems.. I was able to get some at the Honda dealer.. here is the link (have to scroll down to the middle of the page to see the 44K).. you can find a local place that sells it on their website..
If there are deposits in there, this stuff WILL remove it! It's great stuff..

my dealer uses all BG chemicals. It's the best ____ out there as far as I'm concerned. We have an EFI kit: You spray out the throttle body and clean it with a rag, then put a can in the tank, then hook up the third can to the intake manifold and run the car until it's all sucked in.
it cleans out all sorts of ____. i'm sure you could get it somewhere, or check for their website.

Genuine Toyota EFI Injector Cleaner available at your friendly neighborhood Toyota/Scion dealer
Part #08813-00080-DS
Should be about $11.
My techs SWEAR by this stuff.

even the BG products, 44K cleaner should only be used once a year.. It's strong. I think they say every 10-15,000 miles.. but one tankful of that stuff is all you need.. And yeah it's the best!
My .02 cents... Use redline fuel injection cleaner.. It is detergent based, not solvent based. Solvents are harsh and can eat away at seals and rubber parts.. The redline will not hurt these parts. It is also VERY effective and works well. Can be found at Pepboys for about $5 a bottle. I use it about every 7K miles in all my cars...
I am not affiated with Redline... just a very satisfied customer with very good experiences over the years.

in response to this and the post above it: all BG reps (and i think on the cans too) say that the kit is to be used at 30K intervals.
i suppose if you don't drive much at all, a yearly servicing might be equivalent.
you can not hurt anything. so there isn't much to be afraid of.
