Default White residue inside the car...

ok its been awhile since i cleaned my car inside and out, so today i did just that. i noticed there was some white residue inside the car (on the floormats, and the area where the e-brake is). i have the scion floormats where u can remove the carpet part and have all weather. so yeh i cleaned out the inside, took the floormats to wash them. i tried regular old scrubbing with water but after the water dried off, the white residue appeared. so now i tried purple power degreaser. again same thing, once i rinsed and tried off, the white residue came back. no im beginning to think the ones on the lower console wasnt just a spill or somethin. can somebody tell me what it is, how to stop it, or any info would be appreciated.

Wow. See, I was gonna make a joke, but that just killed it.

Is the stain on rubber or fabric? I can't tell from your post if you have the carpet inserts removed or not.

It sounds like you have really hard water. Try using bottled water to get it out. Or, you could use a carpet cleaner that doesn't require water.

If it's rubber, use a detailing product.

Oh. You need to go get a rubber protectant then.

DO NOT use rubbing alchohol on rubber. That will just give you more white residue.

Go get a detailing spray, wipe down the mat, then wipe it dry.
