sorry to say it buddy, but that red paint on your interior makes it look like a lego car. never mind the quality of the paint, talk about tacky...

I painted my engine cover with a rattle can, with prep work and some clear, it looked (tear in my eye here lol) nice

An afterthought! You should have had a professional type your thoughts for you, Mr. Dean. I am sure they would have done a better job, and for less than $20.00 I am sure.

this is fun but you guys are way to sensitive? I guess I shouldn't touch plastic spinner hubcaps, dice valve caps, or skull shift ***** either huh?

99% of a paint job (spray can or automotive paint) is prep. I prepped my car and my buddy painted it in my garage. It turned out better than the OEM Scion paintjob. I have painted many projects with spray cans and they turned out great. You cant just shake it up and spray, or it will look like thats all you did.

Well said from someone who's got a ride to back it up. Yep Randode-you're right. It is all about prep. A good quality paint line doesn't help either. If your body work is good and you prep the pieces right it will turn out great. The high gloss sheen can only be acheived with a higher grade or stage paint...I've painted cars in garages and they turned out good....I guess I am talking to the wrong crowd....

another alternative to paint is vinyl? If you take your time and use a heat gun you can cover many of your peices with vinyl. The colors and possibilities are endless and the carbon fiber really looks great.

I painted the sides of my radio bezel and I challenge anyone to find any orange peel or defects. Most think it's factory.

Lets get on a positive note here...

Dave - both your xbs have been voted best rides...congrats!

Your xbs are sweet and thanks again for the help with the wheel info. I'm taking your advice on the 17's with 45 series tires with the gold lines. Both your xbs are great and the randode website tip was helpful. Thanks again and hope to see you at the shows.

So, after this, what do you use to get the cat pee smell out of your interior?

I think that you are all being a little sensitive to his remarks. What he saw may have been some serious ricey rustoleum jobs. I too have been to shows where many cars look like they were in a horrible episode of Trading Spaces. I mean we have all seen that Honda with the cracked body kit that was painted with a spray can and the owner thinks it is the bomb.

Maybe my mom was right... "It's not what you say, it's how you say it".

Orange peal is a painters term for paint that looks like the skin of an orange. It has nothing to do with your choice of color.

The tuner cars of today are the classics of tomorrow, just as the classics of today were the "tuner" cars of yesterday. And let it be known that many of those classics back then would have been considered "poor quality" and many were rattle can painted.

Most of the old rattle can (classic) cars are gone now and only the better specimens are left, the same will hold true of the tuners

Nothing has really changed, just the type of car and the date on the calendar.
