and as far as everyone worried your gonna get a 1099 form for this trip so you can pay the gov. the taxes nothing is really free!!!! anytime you win anything over a certain amount the gov wants their cut ie the lottery if you win you pay taxes...

Second batch was already announced. Third batch should be in the first half of next week.

 

so, how do we find out about possibly extending our stay to do a little more exploring???

i would only want to bump the flight back a day or two so I could go check some stuff out around the Miami area (never been before) and just hang out...
i would obviously foot the bill for the extra nights stay, just want to know if its possible to move the outbound flight back a day or two?

anyone have any details on if this is possible?
cus if not, you really only get ONE full day in Miami.
the other two are pretty much just travel days...
doesn't make for a very "relaxing" trip.

Hoping i have some industry buddies out that way for the HIN event...

im sure if you ask the hotel whichever one it is they would let you stay as long as its not booked and i personally back in 01 actually in miami decided to stay longer and got my flight changed for 100 bucks so who knows you probably can.

Also, I think extending your stay would be entirely between you and the airlines/hotel you get booked with.

For some reason, I missed like 2 pages of new responses...i was supposed to be notified when a reply is posted. it all of a sudden stopped. weird.

 

(Yeah, Tina, there is a known problem with watched topics randomly and suddenly being dropped from the watch list - it has dropped me several times from watching this topic. New software is on its way.)

As to delaying the return flight, yes it can usually be done for an extra charge (like the $100 one mentioned), but it would make a lot more sense if the original ticketing could be done with the extended date in mind - Saves having to fork over that extra $100 by doing it right the first time through... That saved $100 might even pay for the extra day's lodging.

Ok, I was just wanting to confirm what days this trip is because on the paperwork it says the 14th-16th but I got an email that says it's from the 15th-17th of december....so which is it?

 

I think that the dates in the e-mail were in error...

Although the Scion.com pages don't necessarily agree - the main intro page for the contest say the 'event' is the 15th, the rules page linked to from there says "A three (3) day/two (2) night trip to attend the Scion Miami - Event in Miami, Florida, on or around December 14th, 2006 (the "Miami Event")."

On the RSVP intro page it says the 15th, and the rules page there says the 14th.

The registration forms say "As a Prize, Winners will be
entitled to receive one (1) roundtrip coach air transportation to Miami from the major commercial airport nearest
your home via a major carrier that services Miami leaving on December 14, 2006 and returning on December
16, 2006"

So, I'm pretty sure that the registration forms show the correct 14-16 dates, and I'm just as sure that the e-mail is in error with the 15-17 dates.

Wee will know more for certain when we get our official information from Scions event producer in the mail.

As for the taxes, your tax report will be determined by the prize cost, so if you aren't flying then it will be less.
