Many of you have questions about this event. I will try to get as much of the information answered here as I can. If you don't see something just ask here and I will answer it as soon as I can.

What did I win?
You have won a free round-trip ticket to Miami, two nights of lodging at the Miami Beach Loews Hotel, access to a special Scion event and VIP access to a party. The dates for this event are Thursday, December 14th through Saturday December 16th.

In Miami there will be a special Scion event that ONLY winners will be able to attend. I am not allowed to tell you what will happen at this event, but I can assure you that if you miss this you will regret it. This will take place in the evening of Friday, December 15th.

After the special event there will be VIP party at a Sobe Live. This party will be from aproximately 10P - 2A. Bring some party clothes and be prepared to have fun!

This contest is non-transferable, which means that if you can't make it then you can't give it to someone else. Scion's rules and they will not be bent, we already tried!

What do I do now?
The first thing you need to do is RSVP to Scion using their secure page:

The form asks for your name 'as it appears on your birth certificate', but it means that it wants your true, full, legal name. If you have changed your name legally due to marriage or other reasons then please include your current, full, legal name.

Is this for real?
Yes. This is not a timeshare sales gimmick, not a fake contest to gather marketing information, nor any other bogus scam. This is a true event sponsored by Scion, administered by Beyond Marketing Group (a marketing company that has had the Scion account for years) and co-administered by ScionLife. It is a way for Scion to show their true enthusiast fans a little respect.

What will our trip consist of?
You will fly to Miami on Thursday, Dec 14th. No event is planned for that evening.

Friday day from 12-3P there will be a luncheon at the Loews Hotel for Scion owners and staff. A camera crew will be photographing the event for use in a slide show at the main event later in the evening. Only winners will be allowed in this event. IDs will be checked at the door of each event and you MUST have your tickets to get in.

Friday afternoon there will be a special winners-only event at the Miami Beach Convention Center from 7P-10P. Only winners will be allowed in this event. IDs will be checked at the door of each event and you MUST have your tickets to get in. Cameras of ANY kind will not be allowed in this main event.

Friday night there will be a VIP-party at the Shore Club Hotel from 10P-2A. You will return to your hotel after the party. Return flights will be on Saturday, Dec 16th unless you requested otherwise. Only winners will be allowed in this event. IDs will be checked at the door of each event and you MUST have your tickets to get in.

Do I have to pay anything?
You will have to pay for your transportation to the hotel from the airport. In your hotel room there will be $80 cash reimbursement for the transport costs to and from the airport. If your transport costs are MORE than $80 then save your receipts and Scion will reimburse you the difference.

Scion is paying for your flight and hotel, plus the taxes. When you check in to your hotel you will be required to present a credit card or visa/mc debit card to cover incedentals such as room service, long distance calls, damage, in-room services, etc. You MUST have $300 available on your card at time of check-in, but you will not be charged a single penny as long as you don't use any of these services or damage your room. Borrow or beg, but without that card you can't get into your room.

It will be up to you to report your winnings on your personal income tax forms. The value of this prize is $1020. Consult your tax professional for more information.

The events will feature free food and drink, including alcoholic beverages.

Also, you will have to pay for food, gifts, etc, just like if you stayed home.

Why do I need to send sensitive information to BMG?
Beyone Marketing Group is the marketing company that is administering this event. The guys over at Scion don't specialize in events, they build cars. This means that someone with experience in throwing this size of event is the one running the show. They have administered other Scion events in the past and I can personally vouch for their authenticity.

That being said, the most sensitive information that they need is your social security number. This is because they must report this gift to the IRS as taxable income, according to law. They need your SS# in order to do this.

This says I have to have my paperwork in to BMG within 5 days! Am I screwed?
That is true, but it is within five days of your OFFICIAL notification from BMG. This is to cover their ___ at the end of the signup period. The notification that you received on ScionLife is an early notification. You did not miss your window of opportunity, but get your paperwork into BMG as fast as possible to avoid complications down the road.

How do I get to the hotel?
You will take a taxi or shuttle from the airport to the hotel. You will pay for the trasnport out of your pocket, but there will be reimbursement in your room when you check in. You will take a taxi or shuttle back to the airport. If transport costs are more than the reimbursement left in your room you will be able to get addition funds to cover it. SAVE YOUR RECIEPT if it costs you more than $40/person to get to the hotel from the airport.

Can I take a friend?
Scion is paying for only one flight and a single-occupancy room. You will only get one ticket to the party and the event. You may pay to fly someone else to Miami, you can sneak them into your room, but they won't get getting access to the special events that are arranged. Period.

Can I share rooms with another winner?

Can I stay longer?
Yes, you will be able to arrange for a flight that returns later than December 16th. You will be responsible for lodging after the initial two nights, though. Please make sure you have gotten your flight return preferences to us. More information on this page:

I have not received my flight info or I need to change my flight details
You will ONLY be receiving your flight information via email. If you did not get the email, accidentally deleted it or need to make a flight change email Chrisie Chetrit at chetritc@att.net. Or you can call her at 800-443-4644.

Your return flight MUST be from Miami to the airport you originally came from. If you live within 200 miles of the event it will be your responsibility to get yourself there. Scion will not be flying you if you live within 200 miles.

I have not received my mailed packet or my room confirmation email
I just got word that EVERYONE should have their mailed packet by Friday, December 11th. They have all been sent out on Scion's end.

Also, the hotel is going to start emailing room confirmations soon. Everyone should receive an email with room confirmations in it by Friday as well.

What are the odds of winning?
Scion is announcing 300 winners total, but the odds will vary because we don't know how many people will actually signup to win. Also, if people do not return their information, etc, then 300 prizes might not actually be awarded.

I registered, but now I can't go. What do I do?
Hand write a short note with your full name and signature and phone number on it. State that you cannot attend the event. Fax your note to: 949-789-7444

What clothes should I bring?
Well, bring your beach wear and casual clothes, but the events are going to be a little nicer. Scion suggests "casual business wear" as the proper mode of dress. That would generally be slacks and collared shirt for men, equivalent for women.

Can I take my camera?
You can bring your camera with you to Miami, but at least one of the events is no-photos. You will be notified of which events are not camera-safe, and there will be a camera/phone-check at those events.

Am I getting any information mailed to me?
You should be receiving a letter in the mail that contains a schedule and tickets to the events. It will arrive in a white padded envelope from Malbon Brothers Farms.

 

Is there any way to tell if they have sent the flight info to me and I didn't get it? My junk mail deletes every 24 hours, because I get so much. So I may have gotten something, but it deleted before I saw it? I received my event tickets, but I still don't know how I'm getting there? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, the list is closed now. Cancellations will not be filled. the sixth wave of winners was the list we used to fill the holes left by other winners that couldn't make it.

 

You should get your flight information in the next week or so.

If you have already sent in your paperwork then you will not be getting a formal notice. As long as BMG knows that you are aware you won they don't need to send any further notification. They will send out last minute registered letters to those who have not gotten their paperwork in.

Isn't your 3rd Q the same as your 1st one?

As soon as you get your flight info you can email the travel agent to request a change in your flight plans. They have been very good about accomodating requests.

 

Will the hotel acutally be authorizing $300 or will just an imprint of the credit card be done? I want to plan accordingly.

 

My understanding is that they will put a 'hold' on a $300 chunk so that if someone DOES incur charges, they don't get left out in the cold by the person already having maxed out their cards elsewhere before they check out...

Once you have checked out, they SHOULD release the hold, and the $300 becomes available again (minus whatever you may have charged to your room).

Yes Tomas is correct, however there is a difference if you use a debit card as opposed to an actual credit card. If you use a debit card, the money that they are holding is not available to you while you are in Miami and it takes about a week once they release the hold. On a credit card, the money is still available and the hold is released immediately upon checkout! I work for a credit card company so I thought I would share this info with everyone. Best way to plan is to take 300.00 and put it on your card and leave it!

 

I almost missed the deadlline. I only recieved the paperwork two days before the deadline and it took me almost that long to figure out what I won! One question I have. Since they are checking ID what happends to the 18-20 year olds that won? Do they not get to get into the parties? Or are they just checking ID's to make sure you are on the list?

 

The 18-20's that won before Toyota's lawyers noticed the problem got the option of a free flight to and from Miami and two days at a luxury hotel, NOT attending the event or VIP party where alcohol would be served, or taking a $1020 payment in lieu of the trip.

a whole bunch of us are wondering....

we know it's not likely with time differences, but will we be going back to the hotel between the dinner and the afterparty? or just going straight to the afterparty?

also....according to our paperwork, we can bring our cameras to the afterparty, but not the unveiling.....so where would we store our cameras?

 

The hotel is not far from the event. I know many of us plan on going back to the hotel to change clothes before the afterparty. (Sorry... but my idea of "business casual" is no where close to what I'd wear to a club.)

They will have a place that you can check your electronics at the "main event", you can retreive them before you head to the after party.

I don't know how the time table will turn out, so you will just have to play it be ear.

 

You should get an email from the travel agent within a week. Don't worry, if you are on the list we will take measures to make sure you are all set. We will email, PM and call you if we need information, etc.

Is the mailed package the event tickets and flight tickets? I got the event tickets and haven't seen signs of the flight plans.

 

^The mailed packet is event tickets only. You should receive your flight info via email. It's not a ticket, but it will have a confirmation number that you will need to get through the gate at the airport. Print out the flightplan email (with the confirmation number on it) and take it with you to the airport.
