Default Transportation TO and FROM the airport

I just got off the phone with Scion and the way that people are getting to and from the airport has changed.

Originally there were going to be buses that would take people, but instead they are going to leave $80 in cash in each person's room to cover the cost of transport. This means that you will need to pay for the transportation to the hotel out of your pocket, then when you check-in you will get the money to reimburse you.

They were afraid that the logistics of the buses would leave some people stranded, etc. Now there will be no waiting, just hop in a Taxi and go. He estimate that it would be $20-30 one way for the transportation, so you SHOULD come out ahead. If for some reason it costs MORE than $40 for you to get to the hotel you will need to get a receipt and you will be reimbursed for the extra.

Most people are flying into Miami airport, but some will go into Ft Lauderdale. It might be spendier from Ft Lauderdale, so be aware, please.

I thought I remember reading someone's post saying a Taxi was $32 flat rate to the airport, but not sure about FROM the airport to the hotel. Am I also remembering correctly that someone said $20 for a shuttle bus?

It was me that had posted that information....$32 each way from the hotel to the airport....as a flat fee and then an additional $1 per person....so your best bet is to hop in a taxi with more than one person and then you REALLY come out ahead...plus the cab ride is more fun.

Supershuttle is $20 each way....but it takes slightly longer....

**Does this mean that all winners will receive the $80?? Even the ones that choose options B or C for flight preferences?

Yeah, most people will be making money on this one. Thanks again, Scion!

I am not watching this topic anymore, so any questions should be posted in the FAQ thread.

I don't know if this was mentioned somewhere else... but we could go 3 or 4 (or even 5 for that matter) to a taxi.

Hahah! Have fun trying to hitchhike through Miami's traffic!

I'll probably be carrying a Scion satchel... so, if anyone wants to find me, then good. Might as well save some money for later use (booze).

Heheheheheh... I was just thinking that. Can you picture a near constant string of boxes picking up people wearing Scion gear at the airport?

The rest of the people at the airport would think something was up for sure. :D

Haha! Something's always up in Miami! They would probably just look at us and wave it off.

Although I do remember seeing a few Yellow Cabs xB's driving around near South Beach.

Once we get flight info, it should be easier to match up for rides.

True, every event I've been to, they've always gone top shelf. Sometimes the planning gets a little disorganized but the events are always great. Besides, what other car company would care to do something like this?
