Default ***Points on my License***

Ok, I have a question everyone! I got pulled over tonight for speeding and got yet another ticket. Does anyone know how I can go about seeing how many points I have on my license. I was thinking maybe the DMV, but I'm not really sure.

I'm not sure how your state works, but here the easiest way to get the info is to stop by one of the driver licensing offices, show your license, and request a copy. It costs $5.

Second easiest is to print out the proper state form - http://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/511009.htm - and send it to the Department of Licensing with $5.

All the instructions and explanations are on-line for my state - http://www.dol.wa.gov/ds/abstract.htm - hopefully they are for others, too.

Did you at least have a bad attidue when you were talking to the law enforcement officer. On a side note, women with bad attidues and who drive manual cars fast are COOL!

I still have 2 more court dates.. the first one resulted in 2 points.. and the other two are for 2 points each.. hopefully I can get off of one or both.. I dont know how many points I have.. so.. that would suck if I lost my licence

Pay to play I guess.. ?

I gotta go to court Jan 4th for a speeding ticket...The cop didnt even radar me, he paced me...I say fight it till the end...the worst thing that could happen is you gotta pay the ticket...thats my advice to you Ismokeguys...if the cop happens to not show up then guess what...you dont gotta pay for no ticket and see ya later to the points on your license

As far as how to get the points on your license, I think Tom is right...just go to the DMV and show them your info and they will give you the record

unless yer in cali then to set up a court date and fight the ticket you have to schedule it around the officers schedule.

First off, I wasn't speeding when I got in my car accident and yes I was wearing my seatbelt. Second, I didn't have an attitude hoping maybe if I was nice he would let me off, but I was wrong so now I wish I did have one. And third, I called the DMV who transfered me somewhere else and the lady there said that I don't have any points on my license which is weird being that I have at least 6 speeding tickets and then my accident.

boy when i got my first speeding ticket a few months ago, they gave me a choice on what to do, pay the ticket and deny that i was speed and get points, fight the ticket or pay the ticket and admit i was speeding and get no points on my license...

so i paid the ticket and admit i was speeding, which i was... and i don't have any points on my license

You could have at least lied to us to make the story more entertaining.

And hotbox is right, you have to schedule around the officer that issued you your ticket. Rarely would a cop not show up unless there was a major event requesting his back up. Generally, at court if you admit you were wrong you can ask the judge about taking up a driving class. If you pass the driving class your points get removed and also possibly a reduce in the fine. That would be my advice, theres no winning when trying to fight the officer unless there is something credible in the story that can disprove his judgement of pulling you over. Rarely is there such information to fight with, so just play by their rules and you should come out ahead.

Sorry I didn't lie to make my story more entertaining...and as far as driving school we no longer have that here in the city where I'm at so that's not an option for me. All I can do is pay it and go on.

In NY there are two ways. By either going to the dmv website and paying a $10 fee and they send it through the mail, or by going to the local DMV office. I went to the office, and I think I dint pay anything, plus its the quickest way. The other thing is that until this ticket is settled it will not be on your record.

Of course, there is the option of driving slower...

Also, using normal levels of situational awareness to spot the cop driving or lurking near you. Cops really hate it when they have to light the speeder up before the speeder figures out that the cop is there!

And not speeding through potential speed traps like blind curves and intersections is helpful too.

The time you don't spend in court will more than make up for the added trip time!

I wasn't trying to be smart I was just saying. Also, it was dark so I didn't see the motorcycle cop and my radar detector was going off, but I didn't notice it being that I had the music blarring. I got my new insurance statement in the mail today and it said that I had only 2 points. So, which is it? lol 0 according to the records office or 2 according to my insurance..either way it's not enough for me to worry about right now I suppose.

Perhaps between the time you got the last points and now these 2 points (which arent added to you record til you plead guilty) you wre behaving and didnt get any point therefore allowing them other points to come off. I dont know exactly how it works in TN but in most states I been in if your good for a while no points or accidents (deemed your fault) points will come off. That might be your case, I would still try hard to find out exactly because you would hate to get these 2 new points and then get told you have accumulated to many and your lisence is suspended.. Thats a shock Im sure you could do with out.
