its 2009, is putting a 56k warning when posting pics really needed? people still use dial up these days? i don't understand how dial up would still be used when you can get cable and dsl fairly cheap these days

 

I totally agree that the "56k warning" is not needed, but not everyone has broadband internet. Some don't have it because of cost, and others don't have it because they live out in rual areas where cable isn't available and they are too far from a phone "switch" for DSL. I work with a guy who would love to get braodband but it's simply not an option where her lives. He is looking into satellite internet but it's expensive. Anyhow...yeah, I think we're past the need for 56k warnings. Most people on dial-up know their surfing experience is going to suck.

 

i never put a warning on any of my photoshoot threads. once they see PHOTOSHOOT in the name they should know better. PLus shouldn't they be used to the page taking forever anyways?

 

My mom still has dial up ... and has no other option (well, except for Satellite... which has awful service/rules and way too expensive). No cable, too far away for DSL.

It is excruciating if I ever have to look up anything while I'm there.

I don't think the warnings are necessary in most cases... but people do still have 56k. They should just know by now to not bother with pic threads. Or grab a snickers.

 

It depends... when Gothbox posts 7000 pics, it even takes the fiber at work a while to load.

 

I think we should go back to 14k.

I would love to. It's not available in my area yet. My choices are Comcast cable or Embarq DSL. I'm on cable.

 

i think it is. some dsl and cable internets are still fairly slow or ppl might be using old computers that slow the internet down

 

56k warning sounds a lil irritating, how bout just saying go grab some candy bars
