In some instances, the power of an employer to test employees is abused. I don't care for the fact that they can find out what you have been doing in your personal life. I feel that in certain circumstances drug testing infringes on our 4th Amendment rights.

Why is that if someone smokes on the weekend but is an outstanding employee during the week can be fired because they failed to pass and the guy who goes to the bar every night after work and gets hammered (and therefor is hungover AT work) gets to keep his job becuase he is just an alchoholic?

Maybe my problem has more to do with marijuana legislature. But I think my point is valid.

if someone comes into work hungover there a very bad management at the place of employment if that person is not getting fired.

If I was the boss I would want to know if you are an alchoholic or a smoker. If you show up to work hung over, that's like being sick on purpose. I would send you home in a heart beat - unpaid.

True, but it happens all the time. It stems from the fact that alcohol is a more 'socially acceptable' drug than marijuana. But it's still just that, a drug. People get addicted, lives are ruined, lives are lost.

Marijuana is safer, and I think has less potential to cause the ill effects of alcohol.

On a side note, did you folks know that hops (a key ingredient of beer) is closely related to marijuana?

Being an ex weed head, I can understand that, and you do make a very valid point, I just wouldn't want some one high all week cause I remember how bad I was all the time when I was getting high. Even not high i was still a lil high.

I am with you in the fact that alchohol can be a drug, and it is very dangerous, but are we arguing that mj is the lesser of two evils? At the end of the day they are both in hte evil family.

I'll tell you one thing for sure, I've seen more drunken brawls between friends, than I have with stoned dudes. I think that some should be legal in your home if you get caught driving high EVEN ONCE, jail time. Imo weed is the least harmful (illegal/semi-legal) drug out right now. I've never seen or even heard of someone getting shot over ounces of weed, but it happens all the time with .1's of a gram of coke, speed, and heroine.

Not can be, is. And yes, I feel pot is the lesser...well, I wouldn't call either evil. It's the choices made by those who use that can be considered 'evil.'

For instance, John gets drunk and tries to drive home. He gets in a wreck on the highway and kills a bus load of orphins. Bad choice, maybe even evil.

Bob however gets stoned and decides to go get a pizza. He gets in a wreck on the highway but no one dies....he was only going 12 miles an hour. Still a bad decision.

Ok, so I'm joking around a little here. But how many domestic abuse calls made to the police involve alcohol? A WHOLE bunch. How many involve pot? I don't know but it's probably not that many. In fact, those involving pot are likley due to someone pinching from someone else's bag...

Lesser of two, but still, evil. people loose jobs over weed, and lives over alcohol. You ask a cancer patient if they want something that'll make them more nausious(sp) or something that'll make them hungry, or at least not wanna puke.
