another easy computer question
Some programs are not XP certified...so you may run into that. But I have never seen a program fail because of that.
Are you planning on a straight upgrade or are you redoing the partition and everything?

I'm pretty sure he's referring to an upgrade rather than blowing out the partition and starting from scratch. If that were the case, he would be reloading all the programs anyway and wouldn't be concernced about them not transferring over.
As for the original question, it all depends on what programs you are currently running. Most of the programs that are happy in Win2K Pro will have no problems in XP. There are a few that are tailored to act as part of the OS that may have some grief, but they are few and far between, so hopefully you won't encounter them. The majority of the normally used programs, such as office, shouldn't have any issues though.

sad thing is went and tried to up grade from win2k pro and winxp wouldn't let me cause i bought xp home :? oh well its nice too start from scratch, good news is i have two OS now hehe 2k on c:drive and xp on d:drive
when you put the xp disk in, there is an autorun with options, one of the options is to check to see if your pc is compatable, including software... i think the only thing it told me when i was playing with it, i was going to have to re-install outlook... to be honest with you, find all your software disks, back up all your personal files, and just install a fresh copy and dont bother with the upgrade... just my 2 cents...
