Default Another reason not to...

Another reason not to buy a GTI.

One of my co-workers just took his new GTI in for it's first oil change, and was quite ____ed to find out that it cost him $70.00

And of course we had the which car is better discussion. The tC is "just a car that wishes it were a Celica." I of course told him to come talk to me when he getting his car back out of the shop again.

Oil change for $70? Sweet zombie jesus, is the oil made with gold flakes in it or something? There's a place down the block from me that does 'em for $15 no matter what car.

He lives in Orlando. He said that there is some sort of special tool needed to remove the filter or the drain plug.

it cost $70 because they care about him, usually they give it to you dry but with him they charged him for the extra lube so it slides in better and he hopfully doesn't notice he's been done rough.

I was gonna say, what happened to the good ol vicegrip wrench? $hit, I get upset when the service checkup costs more than $80. Especially when most of the crap they do is like rotating tires, cleaning off brake dust, and checking fluid levels. All of which I can do myself for free.
