Now I will say that if you have them and you have kids, you should keep them secure, and as soon as the child is old enough they should learn how to use them SAFELY . I learned to shoot when I was 6.5 years old. I NEVER thought of playing with a gun (cause I knew what happened whtn the trigger is pulled) and knew how to be safe with them. VERY important and comes with the responsibility of owning one.

its the non responsible gun owners out there that ruin it for the rest of us...
I have guns for personal use as well as home defense.
The Home defense is always, chambered, locked and loaded.... but INACCESSABLE to everyone but me. Unloaded locked guns dont really work well for home defense. Its kinda like having a foam padded baseball bat. Non-threatening, and wont stop anything in a crisis.

The non responsible gun owners....most are criminals with histories....or politicians
Just my 2 cents.... (And Please no one get a riled and ____y..I didnt come for a fight.)
Its just something for the politicians to use for campagning their way into a better grip on government.... Gun Control, Abortion, AIDS, same topics every year)
It gets better every year... i get to check off something on my "I really want one of those guns" list..because....someone made it illegal. At least i still have my xB...

Gun control is hitting what you're aiming at.

I am in agreement with what you are saying. I dont have kids running around my house. I have a firearm loaded and within easy access anytime I am home.

Unloaded guns are just really expensive clubs!

I dunno, Superman never gave a dam about the bullets flying at 600 m/s at him, but as soon as you threw that unloaded pistol, he was a ducking ****!

took the words right out of my mouth - my grandpa taught me what a gun was capable of and why it is so important that safety always comes first with a firearm

ok since i guess the unloaded gun comments have been based on what i said... let me be a little more specific..

in the drawer where my handgun is, there is a fully loaded clip right next to it, and as we all know... it takes nothing to put in a clip.. I personally am a very might sleeper, and anytime that either of my dogs start barking (I own a pitbull, that is a whole other topic), im awake... many times have i pulled out my gun only to find out that the paper was delivered to my house...

also, i keep a trigger lock on it, why.... because my little brother always has friends over, and i dont want them stumbling across it... (even though it is in my room)

whoa whoa whoa....you keep a clip right next to it so you can load it quickly...ok...makes sense...

...yet you keep a trigger lock on it? doesn't that defeat the unloaded, but easily loaded idea? The only way that would make 2 bits of sense is if you had a key on you at all times...or better yet, in the same drawer...again though, defeating the purpose of having the trigger lock to begin with.

I'm all for having an easily loaded weapon within reach "just in case" -- but I just think that if it's going to be that much of an ordeal to load and make the gun fireable by taking the trigger lock off...you might as well just keep the amo in a completely different spot and say screw the trigger lock...

...just my 2 cents

Gun control is using two hands....

I stand on the side of gun ownership. If the time came, I want to be certain I am prepared to protect my family and myself. Here in WA, you can carry a concealed weapon with permit. I got mine the second week I was here. I am from Los Angeles, and know what happens to people who are unable to protect themselves. I didn't have to worry in L.A., because my fiancee was a cop down there, so no matter where we went, he always had his gun. Most people up here in WA state, have concealed permits and carry, it's not a problem. The criminals around here know the majority of people carry guns and do not tempt fate.

I only believe in responsible gun ownership, and do think metropolitan cities should require a gun safety class in order to get a permit. I am always aware of the location of every firearm we own. We frequently go to the quarry and practice with targets and pumpkins, lol I love halloween!

There are stupid people out there, and they give the rest of us a bad name. But in the end, if you were face to face with someone threatening your life, you'd be wishing for a gun.

Could have done it with a chainsaw! Trust me if guns were not around then you would want to get rid of bows and arrows, then cars, then knives, then anything that a 2 year old could trip on and get a boo boo.

People like this have issues beyond our minds reach and I do believe that yes there should be stricter policies upon obtaining a gun but 3 weeks ago I called a guy, met him at a gas station and bought a .22-250 a .40 Glock and a .223 No information exchanged just cash for guns! I like that because my name is not signed to any guns and I like it that way.

How did I contradict myself? I just stated that I do agree that there needs to be a stricter policy and I only stated an example of how easy it is to obtain guns. I do like not having any guns under my name, I would however have no problem doing so if they would finally enforce against illegal personal gun sales.

I personally believe that Amendment II needs to be better defined.
Amendment II:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
I believe that this should've been redefined for a long time. In reading this if I wanted to keep and bear nuclear weapons at my home I could.

that's the contraddiction
but it's good to see you would make it "legal" IF it was enforced properly
